For the first time ever, Neil Armstrong's commemorative gold Omega Speedmaster is coming to auction, offering a rare chance to own a watch that belonged to (and was often worn by) the first man ever to walk on the moon. With a whopping $2,000,000+ estimate, the watch will be sold by RR Auctions live at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at 6 PM ET on April 17, 2025. Omega has confirmed the watch's authenticity, and its specific provenance is bolstered by several images of Armstrong wearing the watch over the years.

As long as Mr. Dinosaur has no objections I figure we can use this thread to post about Watches and Wonders and all the other goings on in Geneve starting Monday.
To start it off while last year was a disappointing release year for Rolex I think this one will be a killer but maybe PM heavy. They have hinted at something that is very exciting to a movement nerd. It seems we will get a Land Dweller, my guess is in titanium but who knows. The interesting thing to me is a new movement with a silicon escapement but the big news is a double impulse escapement. Breguet invented it, and UN used it in a Freak but nobody has solved the issue of it being a non-self starting escapment. Apparently you had to leave it to a company owned by a charity to get the job done. I am very excited to see this and I want one no matter what the watch it is cased on looks like. I'll try to get some picture up later but I have to run.

Put a NATO on my marathon this week. Never had one before. Digging it big time so far. I am concerned that some summer time it'll start to stink, but we shall see.

Some Rolex leaks. They seem to be getting into the integrated bracelet mania a bit late. I do like the flat links and hidden clasp. Curious of the pricing. I will have to see the various dials in the metal but as it looks with the leaks I am not really moved beyond the bracelet. I am not a fan of 6-9 dials, I would rather have a date at 4:30 but I am probably the exception among WIS.
The turquoise Daytona will be a hype-beast if it is real.
I predict next week is going to be wild for a number of brands. We will also find out if Grand Seiko has finally run out of Japanese nature to inspire their next watch dial.

Took me a minute to realize why the Sprite was on there…

This is what has been released so far, the embargo obviously ended prior to the official start of W&W
Patek 6196
Rolex 1908 in yellow gold
Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Retrograde Date Reference 6159G-001
Patek Philippe Calatrava 8 Day Reference 5328G-001
Landweller with new Dynapulse escapement The SS (Rolesor) version starts at 13,900 for 36mm and 14,900 for 40mm. The SS ones are going to be unobtanium for a while. My pusher said people had be calling to be on the list since the first leaks almost a month ago. The ice blue in platinum is intriguing but at $60k not something I am interested in. I want the movement more than the watch, maybe when they release a darker color in Rolesor.

Rolex Daytona
Patek Philippe Quadruple Complication Ref. 5308G-001 Minute repeater, split seconds perpetual.... Anyone wanna loan me $1 million?
Patek 40mm Cubitus the smaller one just got a whole lot more interesting to me
GMT Master II
Paiget Polo 79
JLC Reverso Tribute Geographic
There is a lot more already out I will add some more later. Haven't seen Tudor's releases which is what I am waiting on.
All the specifics, more pictures etc can be found on Hodinkee, Ablogtowatch, Fratello, Monochrome et al.

Baldassarre has a great video on YouTube about the Land Dweller. Not sure why the Sprite with the green dial isn't offered in a traditional configuration also. It would be a really hot seller.

I stayed up to see the new Tudor releases, people like me broke Tudor's website but I did get to see them before it crashed.
All burgundy Black Bay 58
Pelagos Ultra a Tudor version of the super deep diver but I didn't get to see the WR rating
Black Bay 68 a larger version of the 58 with METAS cert they showed both blue and silver dials
Opaline dial for the Black Bay Pro
Jubilee bracelets for the Black Bay Chrono
Nothing I was looking for, but I would like to the burgundy BB 58 in the metal
They unbroke their site... kinda so I got pictures
1000M WR
43mm

Can’t believe they didn’t update the movement and case size for the Pro, are they scared that people would actually buy it if it had the 58 GMT case dimensions?
The 58 in burgundy on the 5 link looks pretty good, IMO.

Continue to love what Tudor is doing. Pelagos Ultra, BB 68, and the opaline BBPro could all get it. Any word on if the Pelagos Ultras clasp is steel or Ti? I've always had a distaste for the OG Pelagos having a steel clasp when everything else is Ti and it's the primary reason I never bought one.
Two others that are really nice but not something I would own for various reasons are the new Carrera Day-Date and the Nomos world timer.

I will have to have the 36 mm land dweller with the white dial. I saw the sneak peeks on Fed's wrist - looks like a perfect watch for me. I've flirted with an Oyster Quartz just because I like the way they look, but hard to get past the dead beat second hand. Love the idea of the new movement and the fact that you can see it.
I really like the BB Pro w/ wth Opaline dial. I've come close on the black dial version of that watch a couple of times, this might get me over the hump, thickness be damned.
I want to see the 6196 in person. The pics def look like something that I would wear.

The LD is a good looking watch. Very different from the rest of the lineup, but taking cues from multiple siblings.
The one thing i really dislike is the 6-9 digits. It just looks out of place. The one with all baguette markers looks much better.
ETA: obligatory

I quit wearing a watch when I sold my business in 2007. I also quit carrying a cell phone at the same time for nearly 8 years. Still do not and will not wear a watch and won't wear socks unless I just can't get out of it.
