Nothing interesting today, but last week…

Whoever polished that sub should never be allowed to touch a watch again. Rounded lugs and a horrible polish job. Ouch.

Mini-gsar per usual.
Bent the bracelet on it at some point the last month it looks like.
Running better every week. I guess it needed a little time after service to get back right.

JLC Tribute in green.

Wearing my new Alpina Seastrong given to me on Christmas from my wife and kids. She knows I love black dial, blue bezel combos. It’s at the larger end of my preferred case size at 44mm, but the case shape and reasonable lug-to-lug makes it work. I love the simplicity of the dial and bezel.

I like a lot of Alpinas. That one is solid.
The Reverso was also a Christmas gift from my son and DIL. My son is also a watch nerd and knew I had separation anxiety since my wife confiscated my OG Tribute to 1931. I really like the green.
The Robb Report published a list of the 50 Greatest Watches. Interesting list with a nice write up on each watch.

Enjoyed the heck out of that read and the pics - despite owning one, can't put the Speedy Moon at #1, though it's not a travesty. Great list.
That's a nice Reverso...I had one pass through my collection about 15 or so years ago - Duo Jour et Nuit...probably shoulda kept it, can't even remember what I swapped it for. I just have never worn rectangular or square watches much, though I like the way they look in pics. I've resisted the urge to buy a Cartier Tank several times over the last few months.

Sick. Great watch. One of my favorites.

That has a lot to do with the voting methodology. The had 50 people nominate 50 watches but there was no weighting like say CFB polls. So all 37 people that listed the Speedy Pro could have it at #10 in their mind but it still ended up at #1.
I had a lot of nits to pick with the list and it is important to note, for anyone reading the list, is that the criteria was "greatest" and "luxury" so no Apple Watch, Swatch, or G-Shock DW-5000C and its progeny which would likely dominated the top of the list along with the Astron had the criteria been the most important watches. Despite my nits like the Paul Newman and Daytona getting two spots I think the list is mostly defensible.

Well, you don't see a Berneron every day! The real star of the show is the asymmetrical movement Silvain had Le Cercle build for the Mirage, in gold for that matter. Probably the only other movement I have stared at as much in pictures is the Lang & Heyne Caliber VIII in their Georg. On the Caliber 215 the click spring looks like a fish getting ready to devour the click (at least to me), I don't know if that is just me or if it was intentional. Silvain took a big leap with that watch but it has garnered near-unanimous industry and watch geek plaudits. It is an outstanding watch and is completely different while at the same time being familiar, the true mark of an inspirational image to two great watches. While I can't see myself ever wearing a Crash (although one lives ion the boxes on the other side of the closet from mine) I could see myself sporting a Mirage.

Thoughts on gold Rolex GMT with Jubilee / Oyster? Or full gold Bluesy?

Rolling with this Capri Watch that I picked up when I visited the Isle of Capri back in 2019. It's a cheap, quartz-powered fashion watch, but I've never seen another person wearing one. Oddly enough, it gets more compliments than almost every other watch in my collection. It's also extremely difficult to tell the time quickly lol.

That is going to simply be a matter of taste.
If you want the profile of a Sub/GMT, for my taste in descending order:
Everose GMT 126715CHNR (only available on oyster) - this is the clear favorite to me out of this group and its not even close.
YG 126718GRNR (only available on Jubilee)
YG Sub Dater 126618LB
Again, this is purely a matter of taste as one is no better than the other. For the Subs, I prefer the look of white gold over YG in the PM realm, and to that effect I prefer the look of the older blue dial/blue bezel to the current black dial/blue bezel.
Not the question you asked, but if I'm going all gold with a bracelet, I would go with a DayDate or a Daytona or even a SkyDweller if you want something bigger.

I’ve been wearing my Seastrong most every day since Christmas. I’ve been trying different straps. I’m really liking the grey silicone tropic.
