Let's see if this thread will still have some life...Here today is a 16710 GMT Master II, an old-tmer for me. "A" serial number, production should be 1999, purchased early 2000, likely transitional as it has "Swiss Made" dial and bracelet has solid end links. Began life as a "Pepsi" but I acquired this genuine "Coke" bezel and popped it in for a different look. I think I prefer it and have kept it this way. I like to keep the GMT hand on home TZ and use it essentially as a 24 hr hand, and change the jump hour hand when I travel outside the Central TZ.

Nice watch, I'm a big Erika's Original fan. Great stuff.

Yea Erika's are amazing. I'm in the process of picking a new watch to add to the collection when my second child is born and will try out the Nick Mankey straps instead of Erika's. Huge lead time, but basically half price from Erika's and made in the USA.

Look at WatchSteward, also. Mine are great. I swim for exercise with one on a Manta Ray Turtle regularly and it stays put.

Here are this week’s wears. I’m considering selling them (except the Manta Ray Turtle), so I’m giving them a run around the block before making a final decision.

I like the old-school bezel inserts on this model. The font looks cleaner and classier to me.

The Seiko “Speedmaster.” They go for pretty good $$$ in mint condition. Citizen had their version, too.

Is the blue faced Milgauss too out of pocket (strange/unique of a Rolex) for an heirloom IYO?

I really like my Z Blue 116400 in some ways it is my favorite Rolex. My wife likes it since it is probably the watch she steals the most. It is quirky by Rolex standards so it might not work for everyone. The prices are also going up since it has been discontinued. For an heirloom I would probably get an OP, Sub, or Date Just instead but the reality is a mechanical wristwatch bought today may end up like a pocketwatch from the 40s just a trinket left in a drawer. In the end for an heirloom buy what you like and wear it, you wearing it is what makes it special.
