Obesity is not a frickin disability. That’s insulting to those with real disabilities.
As a hefty (OK im fat) person, I could not agree more. I would shoot myself in the face if I woke up and realized I was that much of a bitch to claim a disability over it. And I'm too damn pretty to be doing that.

Nothing makes me more angry than a fatass.

That's all good and well but she shouldn't be a doctor if she can't perform a medical procedure without taking breaks. That's putting the patient at risk (if it's surgery, which I am assuming it is).
My friend would tell a story about getting a cheap massage at a massage training program. One day he got a big ole gal. After a few minutes of work she started wheezing. A few minutes later he could feel the drop of sweat coming from her forehead.
To your point, but not even surgery, this big arse big doc is going to have her hand on the wall trying to catch a breather before going into the next patient room.

How does getting fired from a residency work? Can you get another one? Are you just fricked?
Pretty hard. Lots of documentation, supposed to be given direct feedback on what to improve with ample time for remediation, multiple strikes.
May be offered to resign instead of being fired. The former may preserve some ability to transfer to another program or speciality. The latter you're usually hosed.

Fat fricks are a scourge on society.

weighed approximately 400 pounds during the residency program in 2015-2016, and that she had a BMI above 40.
That's a very nice way of saying a BMI of 60.

Reminds me of that South Park episode where all the fatties are on motorized scooters
Reminds me of Disney World on any given day.

Holy shite! How did everyone miss this (probably chicken) nugget….
Can you imagine this club of misfits? It was formally known as the “National Association for The Advancement of No Accountability Whatsoever.” God help the venue that hosts this annual convention!!!

Tigress Osborn, chair of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, applauded Niehay for bringing the case but said that weight discrimination should have its own statute separate from disability. An obese person facing workplace discrimination may not see themselves as disabled, she said.
“Having to use that designation to access civil rights doesn’t make sense,” Osborn said.

Niehay was fired in 2016 after her supervisors questioned her ability to perform physically challenging procedures following an incident in which she was sweating profusely and had to take breaks while working on a patient

Obesity is a frickin choice. Fatties are getting too fat for all our modern inventions. We need an obese fatty size for all things now. We should make seats like 5 ft wide now, and a massive fat sign above the seat saying "seat reserved for the obese fatties only!". Instead of a toilet, give them a kids inflatable pool and tell them to go at it. Instead of toilet paper, give them a beach towel. Instead of uber or taxis, we can just have the uhauls go around picking up the fatties in the back. We do all this for the obese fatties and I bet they still complain. Go figure.

If a doctor weighed 400 pounds and attempted to tell me literally ANYTHING about my health I'd demand to see someone else immediatley.
That would be like having a cancer doctor or cardiologist tell you to stop smoking, but before going into the clinic, the doctor takes a few drags on a Camel or two.

She should know better and eat healthy, but maybe she just needs to have half her small intestines disabled. That said, are people who are limited and on oxygen due to smoking considered disabled by law?

Is there going to be a video of the court hearings. I really wanna know how this is going to screw me as a Louisiana citizen with good health insurance.

Handi-fat. We've all seen it, now it has a name.

"Well sir, we're going to need to keep you under anesthesia a little longer than normal so your obese doctor can take federally mandated breaks."
You post this in jest, but I read one of Tom Clancy's first Jack Ryan books and nearly this exact scenario was written.
Ryan's wife (think Anne Archer) is a visiting doctor in England while Jack is posted there. She sits in on an eye surgery where the doctors performing it go to lunch and have a pint while the patient is kept under general anesthesia. She nearly has a shite fit complaining to her husband about it.
