I know this has been mentioned before, but Texas DPS as of this morning, is doing non-commercial vehicle screening at the state line on I10 in Orange. It's taking about 45-60min even with proper paperwork. This is coming from LSP Troop D facebook posts.

You must be out of the loop! Plus there are pictures from this morning at the Sabine River I10 bridge, of the checkpoint.

*West Louisiana Traffic Advisory***
April 5, 2020

Beginning Sunday, April 5, 2020, motorists are urged to exercise caution and remain alert for traffic congestion when traveling west into Texas from Louisiana roadways.

Checkpoints and screening of vehicles leaving Louisiana related to the COVID-19 pandemic may result in traffic backups in westbound lanes of travel. The screening of vehicles applies to all roadways crossing the LA/TX border including interstates.

Commercial motor vehicle traffic will not be obstructed.

For information related to the Texas checkpoints and complying with the Executive Order, please call Texas DPS at (844) 986-1093

Has anyone actually done the drive yet? Curious to see about the traffic situation in particular. Google doesn’t really show any slowdown, but I don’t know how reliable it is.

On the other hand, it looks like the Texas government just sent out a news release yesterday and every local site just ran the same story without any corroborating information.

You can download the form from the Texas DPS website. Might be a good idea to fill one out and keep it in vehicle, just in case. Are they stopping every vehicle or only those with Louisiana plates?
