as much as a shameless, pathetic, clueless, and stereotypical Aggie as Liucci is -- he does not deserve this nonsense.

Is this like the guy who tried to sue podcasts b/c he said he patented the concept 10 years ago?

Tom Green sued Joe Rogan?

I was going to say that the rocket docket is the Eastern District of Virginia, but I see that the term has also been used for the Eastern District of Texas, among other courts.

EDVA takes it pretty seriously. The courthouse has a kind of creepy Lady Justice statue out front with a hare under it and the court’s slogan, “Justice delayed is justice denied.” I litigated a couple of large, complex cases there with my last firm, and they weren’t joking.

Complete guess just based on OP’s screenshots. The short patent description says “system and method for authenticating electronic content.” So it sounds like maybe a captcha system or some other system going on behind the scenes that protects against bots posting, and the patent troll is alleging it has a patent on that technology. I haven’t been on that site in years and never joined or posted and haven’t reviewed the pleadings in the case, so just a complete guess.

EDIT: Nevermind, I defer to Hou_Lawyer’s posts. I thought he was joking when he said the suit was for “operation of a website,” but that’s the usual reaction I have for patent troll’s claims, so it makes sense that it was a serious answer.

Chicken, if TD gets sued, surely we have enough attorneys on here to defend it.

First instance of hearing the word 'podcast' used on a show was on Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell back sometime around 2002 or so.

Art would upload the show and make it available as a podcast then Clearchannel or whoever eventually put a stop to it.
