That is incorrect.
The entire premise for pretrial dismissal was based on the tesla video and lack of sufficient evidence of guilt by the prosecution.

This thread is a total cluster frick because you people can't read.

It. Went. To. fricking. Trial. And. A. Verdict. Was. Reached. Based. On. The. Video.

The Cop is a P.O.S., but why did he close the garage door, then open it again?

He closed it because he thought nothing was wrong.

He opened it again because he though something was happening to a neighbor. In otherwords he was being nosey

It could also be the man shut his garage door because it is his fricking garage door and none of the state's business.

Speaking as someone who exclusively did criminal defense work for over a decade: while I 100% agree with you, good fricking luck

With how high profile this is, I could see the prosecutor that brought the case getting heat, but you're right. Nothing significant likely for the attorneys

This is even more egregious than ticketing the lady for holding a phone in her right hand THAT SHE DIDN'T HAVE.

The video and lack of evidence of guilt by the prosecution.

Both the video and list of prosecution evidence were presented and approved admittance for the trial.
Prior to the trial, the defense requested a mistrial and the judge refused.
After evidence was presented to the jury (and the law enforcement officer failed to add any credibility to the prosecutions case), the judge heard a second motion to throw out the case and he granted it.

Nothing changed pretrial to predeliberation.
The judge absolutely could have stopped wasting everyone's time.

And it isn't like this guy hit someone and sped off. He was trying to turn into his neighborhood and the person in front of him wouldn't move, so he went. The cop acting like he was in a stand off with a hardened criminal over a traffic infraction by the most non-threatening, white collar looking dude I've ever seen was ridiculous and extreme.

I think there needs to be some form of immunity for cops, but they should have to carry professional liability insurance to pay for their frickups, rather than the city (taxpayers) having to cover all the malpractice. The bad cops would soon become uninsurable and have to find other work, win/win.

They'd all be uninsurable. There ain't a legit insurance company on the planet who would write that policy.

The motion to first dismiss came after the prosecution presented their case. It was denied because the Tesla video wasn't in evidence yet. Y'all just need to stop talking about things you don't understand.
