We should declare war against war. That's basically what we're doing with the "War on Terrorism".

Why do you lump me in with "you morons"? I am not a war or invasion advocate.

I disagree it will be a "forever war" but I do think I will not see peace in my lifetime. I am hoping my children live to see it though.

The simple fact is that we will need to fight some terrible wars in order to eliminate Islamic terrorism.

Recolonizing the Middle East and establishing governments that do not tolerate Imams who promote violence seems to be the only answer at this point.

It is clear that the current governments and people of that region do not have the stomach to stop the exportation of terror

How do you do this exactly?

If FedGov continues its shoddy treatment of war vets that need medical treatment for service-connected medical issues, then FedGov may find it difficult to recruit enough people to go fight the USA's desert wars. But that's another issue and it's easily solved if we just stop voting Democrat.

Why should the USA put troops on the ground in the middle east for the third time in three decades?

Also, let's not act like the GOP/DEM's actually give a flying frick about medical issues connected to war.

You better live one hell of a long time. This war started hundreds of years ago. It can be tied to a warning by Thomas Jefferson, part of the Marine Corp song, the crusades and before that.

It ain't going to end soon or pretty.

I was thinking about this yesterday. More police at "second job" security positions.

Are there still air marshalls? Could this be a thing at known soft targets? Plain clothed armed guys? Hell they don't even need to be cops. Would need more training than just a chl class. But they are not there to break up fights or handle any police situation. You'd still need an armed uniform presence, but add a layer of "air marshalls" basically.

I know to some degree that already exists and many places already use planted plain clothed security.

Just some dude you never knew was there until some shite like this happened?

Down vote me if you must? OP asked a question, and I threw shite at a wall to see what sticks.

We need help from our tech community (Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc.). I'm not big on suppressing free speech but when it comes from a terrorist group trying to spread their message then I am all for it. We need to make it tough for them to use our companies technology to spread their message and recruit.

We already are doing things. They work fairly well in all honesty given that we have had roughly 5,000 people killed by terrorism here in the last 15 years (an estimate and rounding up) with a population of over 300,000,000.

There is always room for improvement, but there will always be another threat and another easy target.

Do you not realize that the Intelligence community pretty much has an open door policy with all of those organizations?

It's pretty head scratching how quickly American's are willing to give up their privacy just for the illusion of feeling "safe".

1) I don't know why. Good question. The US electorate is very fickle. History teaches us that the US military will shed blood and gain control of a situation -- only to have the gains lost when the US electorate votes someone into power who changes military policy and loses the gains. Why would anybody want to shed blood, sweat and tears for that kind of fecklessness?

2) The GOP and the Dems are, I strongly suspect, two sides of the same coin -- The UniParty. I don't trust either of them to do what it takes to do right by the vets. Vets are probably the weakest constituency group looking for FedGov funding. The UniParty is more likely to placate some other constituency group, rather than do right by vets. The GOP will sell out the vets for political expediency and the Dems will do it because vets are not a traditional Dem constituency group -- Dems reward their friends and punish their enemies. The GOP does the opposite -- rewards their enemies and punishes their friends. That's why the GOP may be nearly extinct on a national level, but, that's an issue for some other thread.

Hope something can be figured out on this awful situation. I'm not sure anything will work at this point.

What is it that caused terrorism against the US and other countries to start happening? I'm not even sure what it was at this point. Thanks.

Why do people keep saying this?? You certainly can. Nazism was an ideal propagated over 2 decades that ultimately led them to war and look where it got them. The entire world will have to take their PC goggles an kid gloves to defeat it, but it's unlikely. The ideal certainly can be destroyed to a point of controllability whether or not the world people have to stomach to take it on is the question.
