Unfortunately this sting probably wasn't the only brush with this kind of behavior.

Hopefully this was a one time thing....but you are probably right.

Even if it was a "one time" thing. It's fricked up.

I'll say it again: the church is it's own worst enemy.

Religion in general is an enemy of the human spirit. Genuine spirituality is a different thing altogether.

this isn't really a "god" issue

as has been stated. as long as there are positions (religious or secular) that puts adults close to kids, pedos will infiltrate those positions. this goes back to the discussion yesterday about hollywood where in the thread i said i try to never be alone in a room with a kid. these events do exist, but witch hunts also exist and it's best to just avoid any potential issue

I meant in the sense that maybe they've been caught in a sting before victimizing a child. Unfortunately that's probably not the case given their positions in that church.

our laws in this area are insane. you can be convicted of attempting to solicit a minor who doesn't even exist

seeing this thread. I was thinking about sending my daughter off to Church Summer camp at Camp Ozark for the summer. I did as a youngun and was very fun.No sexual hanky panky going on. Now i'm not so much sure.

Religion rarely has anything to do with the true nature of God. It's man's interpretation and restrictions brought about by our selfish desires.

no. It's a camp ran by counselors.

Good point....that's a little weird.

That said, I would not be surprised if there were victims that came forward from past incidents.

Sending your kids off ANYWHERE is risky business these days, honestly. Everything is allowed and no one is accountable. Voila.

glad my kids are grown, I sent my two sons to one through my mom's church when they were about 11 and 7, after they came back one of the "counselors" about 16(male) at the time started calling wanting to hang out with my oldest son, I had him over to check him out, seemed ok but the whole thing about a 16 yr.old wanting to hang out with an 11 yr. old boy instead of being out trying to chase girls gave off a creepy vibe

Hypocrisy in religion? WHY I NEVER!

It has always been there. Christ, speaking on the subject of the Jewish leaders, told his followers to basically do as they say but not as they do.

At the end of the day...we're all only human and are prone to making human mistakes.

This was a bad mistake.
