Hybrids are the only answer.

Coils on the bottom, foam on the top.

The new Simmons hybrids have the feel of a latex mattress. I am in love.

My tempurpedic is one of my best purchases. That and LASIK. Both greatly improved my quality of life. I don't find ours hot. But many do. They have some with cooling feautures now. And they make several levels of firmness.

I paid $2800 for my tempurpedic 3 years ago and I think it's the best money I've ever spent. Best sleep ever. Got my son a cheaper memory foam mattress and it is also very comfortable but he won't put much weight on it to wear it out for a long time. Much better than regular mattresses. They have cooling gel pads that keep them cool now.

Just bought king cloud supreme breeze in May. Never been hot. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

We got one for my wife and her back last year. I sleep great on it, but I sleep great everywhere. It's been a big help for her so it's worth it.

We got the cooling top so we don't notice the heat others have said.

I will say my shoulder does get stuff if I sleep on it but that's the only complaint.

Decent investment.

I decided to purchase a futon mattress

About 6 months ago I got my niece's old sofa. It is so soft that I fall asleep on it almost every night while watching tv.

Paid like $3K for one and didn't like it any more than a regular mattress. Wasn't bad - just wasn't anything worth the money for me.Told them to come pick it up, and suddenly the guarantee wasn't from the store, but from the manufacturer. I was told to call them instead. bullshite - not what the salesman told me when I bought it. Caused a big fuss, and it turns out the salesman was new and got his story wrong. They ended up picking it up and gave me another mattress I picked out with a big refund. Probably got the poor kid fired.

I bought a Sleep Innovations memory foam from Amazon for about $600 It has a cool gel layer and is the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on.

A straight memory foam mattress is hot. Tons of them use the cool gel now to fight that. Do your research.

Sleeplikethedead.com is an awesome resource.

Definitely get bamboo sheets as another poster mentioned.

The ONLY advantage that Tempurpedic has over other memory foam brands is they last longer, but I can buy replace the one I bought every 3-5 years and still come out better than a $3000 Tempurpedic.

TP by far a better product. Takes a little getting used to but superior comfort will be attained....

it's awesome for my back.

+1, whereas a prior mattress sunk in the middle and ruined my back
