Temporary carpet in a half finished basement

The basement is "dry" in that it doesn't get a flow of water.
That being said, moisture is still obviously a problem.
What's the best, most economical course of action for a 1-2 year solution of having some sort of carpet or rug on a concrete basement floor?

I don't know what you're using it for but I'd say indoor/outdoor carpet aka astroturf

Are there plans to finish it out at some point? Just get some of those rubber mats. Or the foam/rubber ones that go together like a puzzle. Toss a rug on top.

Same here, but moving to KC at the beginning of the year and gonna have to get used to it. Although the majority of the homes I've seen that have a finished basement come with a bar

Cork. It is an engineered product that works well in high humidity and resists mold growth. You should still install a vapor barrier beneath the flooring.
