Was there earlier this week and witnessed three separate wrecks, all on Hardy street. Couldn't wait to GTFO.

GMorgan lives there, so you've got a source for LSU baseball BPB.

The traffic is miserable. Still not as bad as Baton Rouge. I grew up in Hattiesburg, and yes it's boring. As one guy said Cotton Blues isn't awful. Eat at the Shipley's Donuts on Hardy Street. Best donuts the world has ever seen. It's nothing like every other Shipley's. And Ward's. Get a chili burger at Wards.

Robert St. John has a "restaurant facility" on Hardy St. that isn't too bad.
Mahogany Bar
Purple Parrot
Branch
Capital City
Branch is a *fantastic* spot for cocktails and wine.
Reviews say the food is good, but I haven't tried it.

Pretty killer sports bar/grill/pool hall across the street from southern miss. Forgot the name of it though. God help the cleaning lady who had to clean the hotel bathroom after I was done with it.

Crescent City Grill is part of these two places and has some good food, but less formal than the Purple Parrot.

Kinda surprised no one has mentioned Keg & Barrel, it's Hattiesburg's version of the bulldog with better food. The music scene is kind of eclectic since USM is a liberal arts school. There's a pretty big hipster population for a MS city. Downtown has some nice restaurants, but there are a lot of chains everywhere else. Honestly, having spent a lot of time in both, I see it as a shrunken version of BR, traffic and all.
The main appeal is you have decent, though not great, entertainment in the city but you're also a short drive from the outdoor recreational things you mentioned as well as New Orleans. Another perk is that safe, decent housing is cheap and the run down areas tend to be pretty well defined. Avoid anything immediately east or south of downtown, that's where the two cops were shot last year. West Hattiesburg is the yuppie box store side of town, and most of what I enjoy is gonna be on the strip of Hardy Street between I59 and downtown.

If it helps, she's popped three or four out by now and her baby daddy just got laid off the rig.

The food is okay but she's the only reason I go back whenever I'm in the area.

Thanks for that.
I went to college in Ruston for undergrad, so I know what those types of colleges and college towns have to offer.
I know how to entertain myself.

Two Pages and no mention of Ropers Rocking Country? For shame.
