The first time I heard pressured speech (which, just for anyone else reading this that may be confused, is not exclusive to bipolar disorder), I thought "Wow. It really is the human speaking equivalent of a water hose with a finger over the nozzle."

If you watch Silver Linings Playbook they show this fairly well. he's mostly in a euphoric state in the Movie. Excelsior! Wearing the trash bag, and everything is gonna be great , thinking his wife will take him back, staying up all night bitching out Ernest Hemingway. He loses touch with reality but can't see it.

My best friend dated 2 bipolar chicks.... Back to back. It was crazy. They fake who they are until they've got you in deep in the relationship then they unleash the fury.

I'm currently in a serious relationship with someone who has this diagnosis as well as borderline personality disorder.

Just burn down the house next time she wants to talk, it's easier to deal with.

Sex is top notch though, right?

I'm going to give you a little advice b/c I have a close family member with this. Go ahead and leave this relationship. Nothing is going to change. I'm sorry to break this to you but there is nothing, not even medication that is going to make her better. It requires an effort on their part that's not possible for them partake. Your life will only go downhill as long as that's in your life. That unfortunately is the cold hard truth. Years of counselling may work but again, it requires them on a level of honesty and openness they're not capable of.

Shes taking her meds but they dont seem to be helping at all except getting her to go to sleep at night. She has a few really bad episodes a week. where she ends up breaking up with me for a day and cussing me out. As well as her threatning to take all her meds and kill herself. I don't really know what to do.

Again, end it now and consider yourself lucky. Medications do not work with Borderline patients. Trust me, I've been experiencing and living with my entire life to the point I only interact when I have to at family functions and keep conversations at a surface level. I don't care if you've been in this relationship for how long, it WILL NOT get any better and I can promise you that.

I've dated two chicks with it. It was terrible and exciting at the same time. I'll say one thing, you literally never know what to expect. One minute she's awesome to be around, the next you want to get the hell out of Dodge. Secks was pretty great with both, but the rest of the bullshite was not worth it in the end. Another similarity that both of the girls I dated shared was that no matter what, it always seemed like shitty things happened to them. Both had parents die at a young age (one was suicide), one's brother died while we were actually dating, one girl's house was destroyed by a tornado at a young age, etc. The list goes on... Regardless, all bitches be crazy. Just find the one with the amount of crazy that you can handle. Chances are if she's legit bipolar, you won't be able to handle it. Unless you're a beta amirite?

Yeah they may have borderline personality disorder or something that's not Bi Polar. Bi Polars can't fake anything. That just sounds like a couple of real bitches.

That's what I'm saying. Bi Polar is the pop diagnosis du Jour. And most people have no clue what true Bi Polar is all about. Most people are describing people they know that have huge mood swings. Just having huge Mood swings does not mean a person is Bi Polar. You can have rapidly cycling bi Polar but I think it's much rarer than people are claiming.

I'm very close to my cousin who has it. It's a nightmare. I had postpartum depression after my son was born, and that's not a feeling I'd wish on anyone. I can't imagine what a bipolar person goes through on a daily basis

My ex was officially diagnosed the last year of our relationship. He refused to take meds(he doesn't trust doctors). Medicated himself with illegal street drugs.

I got stabbed in the leg with some darts a few times by this bipolar chick I was dating. I broke up with her on the spot and she had no idea why. In my experience, they are awesome in bed, but don't like to take their meds

Maybe he looked past it at first or things didn't make them explode as easily in the early stages. I know the both were on meds at one point and got off. Both of their mothers were crazy. The last on vandalized his apartment for him catching her cheating. They both would hit him. fricking crazy.

They both seemed really cool at school and around their friends but everyone they dated said they had issues like this.

My ex had it. It's hell dating someone with it that doesn't take their meds. Basically you feel like you are walking on eggshells with them the entire relationship and your mood begins to be based off what mood they are in.

From personal experience, this is a very accurate description of someone with it.
I feel sorry for them but am grateful everyday they are out of my everyday life.

Exactly what I was gonna say. Cutters are usually borderline.

I rode with a bipolar gal(date of a buddy) from Dallas to Nola for the Millenium NYE and she spent weekend with us.
When you spend time with a real bipolar person, the oft-used accusation becomes easy to UN-use.

saying "you're so bipolar" to someone who's simply moody or stressed is comical. Not the same at all.

Rapid, ultra rapid & I think it's called ultradian cycling are rare

People should be normal until they have an episode 2-4 times a year. Then they'll have a major mood change & require new meds

It's not as bad as y'all are making it out to be if you take meds

I am a pretty dominant guy, so there was definitely some shouting matches with both of the legit bipolar girls I dated. They were pretty nuts, and everyone around me and them knew it. I was able to deal with it, I believe because of my personality, but I just got bored with them after a while and broke it off
