Did a family trip a couple years ago. Seems like one of those places that is awesome to visit, but may get old putting roots down there.

There are a lot of wealthy retired people there as well as plenty of poor locals. Probably not a great place to raise a family unless you have high enough income to do private school and afford an expensive house. Might be a great place if you are single.

Food was fantastic, and the art is pretty impressive if that is an interest. We went and hiked in an area where there was a forest of yellow aspen trees all in peak leaf season.... incredible to see.

Yes. Fire and Hops is pretty darn good too.

Again, fun to visit. Would NEVER live there.

always assumed Santa Fe as a more Western, cowboy type town.

it is. Lots of Navajo.

There is a conjunction of artists, hippies who are your "Berkeley" types.

Turner and singleton each own a million acres of ranches. Buying up little ranches.

Hundreds of ranches are for sale.
Cattle and horse.

It's a hard life.

My ex is there. She lived in Berkeley before she moved.
She classifies as artist and hippie.

It was an awesome place to visit, but I could see it getting old living there after a while. There's enough to do to keep one occupied for a long weekend, but it's still a pretty small town. However, it's absolutely gorgeous, and if your job pays enough to afford a decent quality of life, it's an excellent place to live.

My husband a d I lived in Santa Fe for a month to check it out as a place we might want to retire. That was exactly our sentiment. Fun to vacation there, but too small to live there.
