I have been invited by a friend and have no idea what to expect. It is in Livingston parish.

Is it a police auction or a regular one?
I've only been to a few. Dont drink if you're planning on buying anything
You generally pay 10% on top of your bid

It is a regular one and does have a 10% fee. I am expecting stuff I don't want at prices I don't want to pay.
Eta: not sure how to bid. Is it like on tv?

Are you in the market for a vintage 1977 mobile home?

They'll probably give you a little paddle with a number on it to raise when you want to bid
Exactly like most auctions on TV.
I doubt they will have bidder assistants in the crowd unless it's a big item like an expensive car
