Sherwood Forrest area has an ungodly amount of foreclosures, which hurt property values bad.
I realize it's not that particular neighborhood, but that's the direction it's going. Eastgate as the next door neighbor? No thanks.
I'd stay away from anything near Sherwood. Check out neighborhoods like Azalea Lakes, or even the older neighborhood across the street from it.
Houses around Sherwood Forrest also stay on the market longer than average. The demand is declining rapidly.

If you go towards Tiger Bend or Old Jefferson there are newer, slightly smaller homes at a similar price
Totally agree.

Woodland Ridge is nice. It's next to Camelot.

Break ins aren't as frequent in Old Jefferson area and South Baton Rouge around Bluebonnet.
There's some trashy low income apartments off of Sherwood Forest next to the Whitney bank, and those are next to an entrance to Woodland Ridge. Plus some low income neigborhodd across the street from Dunkin Donuts in Sherwood, and that neigborhood backs up to Camelot. I think people from those are doing the break ins in the area. I saw way too many cars with rims and sagging pants from those apartments when I drove by them every day coming home from school.
And I'm not trying to scare anyone here, but it is a legitimate concern in the area, and this is my honest opinion. A friend of my mom had her house broken into while she was at home with her kids and her husband was away. Had to lock themselves in the attic and beg the police to come, but the burglars were gone by the time the police got there. Again, the break-ins aren't every night, and we never had our house broken into, nor any of our direct neighbors, but multiple houses on our street were burglarized over a 5 year period. So buyer be warned, an alarm system is a requirement for the area, and you'd be better off with a closed garage, not an open carport like many of the homes have

Does anyone know what elementary schools are in that area?
It was zoned for Wedgewood Elementary, Southeast Middle & Woodlawn HS back in the 70's-90's....not sure if it's changed. I had lots of friends that grew up in that area as a kid. Todd Graves grew up in that neighborhood FWIW. My parents live in The Shadows of White Oak further down Harrell's Ferry.

On second thought, I wouldn't go to Camelot. It is a silly place.

The houses have bully proof windows

I'd check out some South BR neighborhoods, like Quail Ridge, Oak Hills, D'Iberville Terrace.

I grew up in woodland ridge and my parents still live there
we used to use Camelot as an escape route because there was only one way in and out of woodland ridge at the time. Now it's easier to get out since they opened up the back to get to jones creek rd
I've not lived there for 25 yrs but the houses are decent but dated
Sherwood traffic is a bitch though
