Shop it all you want baw. Wont help. At my peak almost 3 years ago with 4 cars including a 17yo boy and 16yo girl I was paying over $1000 a month. I think it was $12.4K for the year. Insane. The good news is, it has dropped at a decent pace since then. I think I paid about $9.1K this time. Policy renews at the end of Sept.

Also, a new car doesn’t necessarily raise your insurance that much. In fact a lot of times the added safety features will actually help you out. The value of the car is insignificant compared to the liability of hurtling a ton of steel at 80mph in close proximity to other people.
Good luck!

First time my parents let me drive on my own with my license, was to pick up take out food. I side swiped an electricity pole backing up, tore it up good. Cried the whole way home but that’s why you pay the price for new drivers. Thankfully my parents were more understanding than mad although im sure they were mad, they gave the accidents happen talk.

You should have bought a $8000 Toyota. Would have been much cheaper.

Well. The car would have been cheaper. But the insurance wouldn't have been much cheaper at all. Most of that cost is the liability portion.

I have no clue how my parents did it, but they had 5 kids aged 15 thru 25 on their insurance.

All of us had our own new cars too( 2 Jeep Wranglers, an F150, a Miata, and a Acura Integra)

The cars + insurance,+ private school tuition and college = holy crap.

S your dad was one of those plaintiff lawyers every one else is bitching about.
