y sure that was a play on words that you didn't understand. It's like saying a fish that jumps onto dry land is asking to die. The fish didn't purposely ask to die but the actions taken lend to a good chance of that happening. In this case the actions the female took lead to a good chance of rape happening.
That's not a very good comparison.
More like, the fish swam into brackish water and got stuck when the tide went out.
Yes, you can laugh at that.

I can imagine it but it doesn’t happen. I don’t know everything they do but they don’t do things like this.

I can understand this, but like I said above, not all teenagers are able to comprehend how horribly a situation like this can go wrong.
Unfortunately she was never taught or did not heed the "stranger danger" slogan.
Exactly why I said her parents failed her. You don't protect her by hoping no one rapes her, you protect her by giving her the reason and guidance to not walk directly into a situation like the one here. You can't stop a rapist from raping, but you can do a lot to prevent your child from being the victim. That is the part you have the influence over, the only part.

Wise man here guys. Everyone pay attention to him. 16 year olds do everything their parents tell them to do. All we as parents have to do is simply tell them and then Bam, lifetime of no worries!!!!

If you do have a daughter, I hope she never gets into a car with someone she met on instagram.

Well it's a good thing rape is illegal. That has prevented rape from ever happening. You can be the dumb one on here to shoot every thought down as you usually are, but then you seem even dumber when you don't actually add any point to the discussion.
Basically what you said is since 16 year olds don't always listen....we shouldn't guide them and teach them how to avoid these situations?
Doing something, and all that you can do, is better than doing nothing.
What's your idea great and all knowing wise one? Are you implying that you think the parents have done everything they could, were top notch parents, and that their daughter is just a complete idiot? A 16 year old is not a little kid. By 18, if your kid could not survive on their own in the world, you've not done your duty as a parent. This must be the case for you? Or maybe you're still living at home as a 30 something year old? Is that why you think 16 year olds are completely inept at life?

It has nothing to do with “deserving”
It’s simply saying that if you dive into a tank of piranhas don’t be surprised when you get bit.
I mean don’t we teach our kids not to go places with strangers?
This is why

Yea, reading this leads me to believe there’s more to this. Don’t get me wrong, these guys sound like absolute pieces of shite but what was the girl thinking? Getting picked up, by 3 dudes, and going upstairs with one of them?
If I had to guess, I bet she was going there to smoke or drink. Looking at his Lunar surface face, it’s hard to think the sex was consensual.

Nobody here knows the girl nor the boys nor the girls life story nor the boys life story nor the girl's parents or parental guidance nor the boys parents or parental guidance. Parenting does not prevent all bad decisions. I'm fully aware of what 16 year olds are and are not. I've taken issue with the automatic and certain blame on the parents by a few posters who have the idea that teenagers aren't rebellious creatures by nature and that they just soak up all the knowledge from their parents and never make mistakes after that.

quote:I understand your point, it is true. Hell, I did stuff my parents didn't know about at that age and I tried very hard not to get on my dad's bad side. I sure as hell didn't rape anyone though. Like I said before, experience is the best teacher whether it is good or bad. Most learn more from the bad to keep it from happening again.

Some people are just plain trash. I wish our country would make punishments that would deter this kind of crap.
Our country has the toughest laws on the books in the developed world. Our country leads the developed world in incarceration. Our country leads the developed world in crime.
Perhaps, we should re-evaluate things.

I doubt her expectation was to be raped by one guy while his friends waited their turn. Seriously, some of these responses are so barbaric and cave-man like. It doesn’t matter why she went with them-no girl has the expectation of being raped just bc she’s with several guys. Clearly this low-life degenrate was the one with the expectation of raping someone. It’s the boys fault-nobody else’s.

Well I partially agree with that and have stated something similar in earlier posts. However, raping someone is not being rebellious unless you lived with the dinosaurs as a caveman. Getting into a car with 3 mostly complete strangers is also not rebellious, it's just plain stupid. There's a fine line between the two, but this one is way past that line into stupid.
