Yep. Probably thought doing this for "dramatic effect' would sway her mom's opinion in her favor and didn't really think things through.
Well, she won't be doing that again.
The only one I feel sorry for is the mom.

I had a kid I worked with do something similar (on a less trafficked road at a slower speed so he lived). Come to find out the Mom beating the shite out of him in the car and burning him with the car lighter.

This happened to my best friend with his girlfriend. They were arguing and she jumped out of the car while it was doing about 15mph. She slammed her head on the concrete and died.
