Bars will remain closed to indoor service in the city through Mardi Gras, even if the city's positivity rate dips below the 5% threshold the state has set, Health Department Director Jennifer Avegno and city spokesperson Beau Tidwell said Wednesday. That happened for the first time in weeks on Wednesday as the positivity rate dipped to 4%.

I'm a devout Catholic. It's my religious day to get messed up on Beam, and I must commit many acts of debauchery before my 40 day fast. I'll be out on the streets expressing my religious beliefs.

Arrest me if you must.

But you can't stop all of us!!!!!

Said this before, but it would be fricking hilarious if like 20,000 people were in cahoots to go set up ladders and chairs on parade routes even parades aren't running.

Then they just blast music and get wasted and block traffic.

I’m not sure how I could support this cause financially but I’m interested.

It's not like employers are going to take away vacation.

I'll be down in the Quarter.

I'm thinking about dressing as Teedy. We're about the same size.

Think you might have to shed 10 or 15.

The French Quarter around Mardi Gras day is going to send Teedy into a tizzy. Bourbon gonna be lit, you!

Sometimes people just have to do the right thing..... but people in New Orleans are way different than most people.... it could get scary bad with the amount of people who just want to party and make a fool of themselves and thinking this virus is a nothingburger....

Not sure how they plan to keep people from walking down the sidewalks and such when they haven't done any control up to this point.

r/neworleans will be fricking incredible to behold that day.

You and the other high risk old people in poor health can make your own decision and stay home -

Crazy how that works.

We celebrate the day before Lent. It just means more to us.

If I'm giving up booze and sweets for 40 days, I'm going out with a bang.
