Yes, you sound very jealous. Have you ever been a teacher? No? I didn't think so. You should just shut the hell up and go back to your cave.

I love it when people talk bad about teachers. Until you have walked a mile in their shoes, shut the hell up. Back in the day when these morons were in school, schools had discipline and support from the parents. Now days it is the complete opposite! It is not what did little Johnny do wrong, it is what did you (teacher) do wrong to my child.

Im in customer service. A teacher can cry me a river. They have an idea of what they are getting into just like I did.

This is precisely why teachers have zero right to ever complain about their jobs

I find that it's the older teachers, especially women, who always bitch about teaching, the students, salary, etc. I avoid our teachers lounge like the plague so I don't have to be around them bitching and whining and complaining.

I'm in my 4th year teaching and I will never bitch about any part of my job. I am at a great high school with great students and a great administration. I know I don't have this huge salary, but I love having my nights, weekends, holidays, and summers off, plus I umpire travel baseball and referee basketball, so that helps supplement my teachers salary.

I wish I had 2.5 months off. My last day of school is Wednesday. Then on Thursday I have to meet at the school for a meeting.i get Friday off. Mon-thurs of the next two weeks ill be up at school putting together a new circulum about to start up in August. The I have two weeks of AP training. Then I have a two week vacation. Then I will have to go to another AP training end of July for a week. And then school start back up. In the middle of that I have to prep lesson plans for said AP classes, I have to review/edit lesson plans from this year. So what's this 2.5 months you talk about?

I think they can usually opt to be paid either way, 12 months or 9 months.

It varies by parish. My wife is a teacher and avoyelles only gives the 12 month option. They used to let teachers choose between working months or 12 months.

I don't have a problem with them getting paid over the summer. Just don't complain about not making more when you could work.
Why is it ok for offshore workers to only work 6 months and be off SIX months(7 & 7) and make 3X what teachers make?

Trust me when I say that I've seen the countdowns all over FB - just the same as when the whining and moaning starts at the end of July.

Livingston had a hour added of school each day.

Livingston lost the fair (fall) holiday, parent-teacher conference day, all early dismissals, and the last day for kids was supposed to be tomorrow but it's Wednesday instead. They also added twenty minutes to the day (10 in the morning and 10 in the afternoon).... most definitely not an hour.

Teachers catch a lot of shite from people when they complain about being underpaid. I used to be one of those people until my wife decided to become a teacher. But my view has changed after seeing the hours teachers put in and the stress they put up with. My wife is up until midnight most nights during the school year catching up on work. The lack of parenting and the home life of these kids have takes a toll on teachers mentally.

Their time off is well earned

I just wanted to pile on and say that teachers have the option of taking nine months' salary, or 12 months' salary, but the amount does not change. It is just spaced differently.

I hope you are smart enough to figure out what that means.
