Yes, you sound very jealous. Have you ever been a teacher? No? I didn't think so. You should just shut the hell up and go back to your cave.

Nuh uh!
They've got lesson plans to work on!
And they have to spend their own money on tissues!

^^^ specialist degree with 21 years service. also does after school program making 25 an hour after work from 2-6, gives her time to grade papers and other stuff around the school. before taxes its around 92k
So she's not making the 90k "teaching" 1st grade is she? she is working 12 hour days and not finishing until 6pm, good for her but it isn't just teaching.

I'm not sure about EBR. Livingston had a hour added of school each day. Ascension had no early dismissals, and no days off other than holidays. But my guess is as long as they attempted so make up most of the hours it got excused. St. Amant High and Dutctown High only went to school half days also.

well yeah i guess...so 77k teaching, then sits at her desk with a walkie talkie while grading papers and if a problem child comes up she goes and deals with them.

77k

she does have two additional degrees, she would be making 60k without them
Posted on 5/22/17 at 2:47 pm to auzach91
3 degrees to teach 1st graders?
Posted on 5/22/17 at 2:48 pm to StrongBackWeakMind
1/2 her class is autistic kids. she deals with all the kids the parents dont want in special ed, but really need to be.
i believe her specialist degree was in autism awareness or something like that.

Ah, I gotcha. That makes sense.

She's working 12 hour days, more power to her.
The degrees are helping her. My wife has a masters +30 and it made a difference at Dutchtown in Ascension, but they pay her next to jack shite since moving to St. Landry.

Do they still have summer school or do they just say "frick it" and pass everybody these days?
Posted on 5/22/17 at 2:52 pm to auzach91
My wife is a Speech Therapist, she contracts to the school for 55 an Hour. I make 56,000 a year we do ok.

I'm just congratulating them on their hard work and well deserved break.

They should get 100% of their pay during working hours and not spread out over the summer when they are not working at the school.
