Salary so low, you can't even afford a phone that works.
Such a sad, sad story.

My former career was teaching and coaching. There is alot more too it than most think. 60 hour weeks most of the year meaning I was actually on campus working during those hours. It wasn't a hard job but harder than one would think. It just wasn't worth the money IMO. Plus with coaching I was working a good bit in the summer. I respect the hell out of a good hardworking teacher but there are a ton of lazy POS teachers too.

Teachers have my respect. I couldn't handle the way kids/parents are towards teachers. God bless them

Between your holidays, weekends, summer and off periods ... there is no reason to be working 5:30 am into the evening.
Sorry about your poor time management skills. Maybe someone should teach that to you.

Sometimes I wonder if some of y'all understand the concept of annual salary vs paid by the hour...

Wednesday it starts for me

Oh...
Here comes another know-it-all, speaking out of his/her arse. You guys are great!
No, I completely understand the difference. I am paid a salary to work 182 days a year for 46k. That is my salary. I am asked to arrive by 6:45 and to leave no earlier than 2:45.
Monday is not one of those 182 days.

So...a work year is 52 weeks at 5 days a week, which is 260 days. You're signed on for 182 days which is 70% of that. Your true salary based on a 260 day work year is right under 66,000 and you're complaining about a training day that you wouldn't get "paid" for? I'm paid at an hourly rate and don't get paid for training hours, but I'm not here posting a "woe is me" complaining about it.

We clock in/out at the school where I work. We sign timesheets at the end of each month so you get to see people's hours. The ONLY people putting in anywhere near 60-70 hours are football coaches and the head baseball coach. We'll put in 80+ in season (same with baseball coach) and 50-60 in the off-season. The MOST a regular teacher might occasionally work is 50 hours every now and then. When they do you never hear the end of that shite. Typically teachers put in 35-40 hours. And yes, if you come in on the weekends you clock in. I'm up there Saturday and Sunday during the season and I never see any regular teachers there.
Summer hours are light for me: 20-30 hours a week. But again, it's a barren wasteland other than major sport coaches, principals, and an occasional counselor.
I say this not to complain. I love my job. I'm just trying to dispel some myths perpetrated by regular teachers. I've done this 17 years at 4 different schools. I'm sure there are exceptions somewhere but I have NEVER seen teachers work as hard as they claim to on the internet.

Neither is he. I knew what the pay was like when I signed up for this gig.
