Anyone experienced this?

My 3 yo daughter was diagnosed with the flu on Thursday, and we started tamiflu right away. Well tonight we have had a few occurrences which come to find out must be night terrors. Waking up frantically crying and screaming obviously not all there. Has anyone else has this happen to them or their child? Curious about how long it may last.

When I take tamiflu I wake up several times a night with cold sweats. No nightmare just inexplicable cold swears.

Treat the symptoms, tamiflu is the devil and most pediatricians won't recommend it. Prayers for your baby.

My oldest had night terrors. Sucks. Would happen especially when he would play outside running and active. He eventually grew out of them. He's almost 5 now.

Throw the tamiflu in the garbage. Useless and for the kids may be worse than the actual flu symptoms.

My mother took Tamiflu last year and had a psychotic reaction and ended up in ICU for 24 hours. She had never had any kind of thing like that happen before or since. I will not take Tamiflu myself or allow anyone I'm responsible for to take it.

Night terrors are the worst thing ever, I hope it is just because the Tamiflu because you don't want to deal with that for a year or two

ETA: if you have two people there have one stay with the child and another get a drink with sugar like Capri Sun or a soda as soon as possible, in my experience a sip of a sugary drink calmed the kid down right away. Until then it was like he was possessed by the devil until he had it.

When I was a kid about the same age as your daughter, I had a really high fever which caused me to hallucinate. It's probably my earliest childhood memory, and I remember seeing tigers pacing back and forth at the foot of my bed in the middle of the night. I remember screaming and crying in my bed until my parents came in.

My mom stuck me in a cold bath to bring the fever down, which worked, but that was by far the most terrifying event in my life.

Maybe it wasn't the Tamiflu, but instead was caused by a high temperature due to the flu?

I had a near nervous breakdown on it a few years ago. My reality was badly warped for the duration and a few days afterwards. Never again.

They warn you in the commercials. Lol

My wife is a pharmacist and tells people not to take it. For starters, it's mostly useless. Also, the side effects are unpleasant.

Are kids not supposed to be prescribed it?

I got the flu last year and went to the Dr. within 24-hours, got Tamiflu and felt better immediately the next day. Worked like a charm.

It can help if you take it soon enough, but in my view the risks are just not worth it. Having seen what a bad reaction can be like, I will never take it myself.

There is something new coming for the flu in in the next few years. It will compete with Tamiflu but is in a different class of drug and has a different moa. Also, it should have minimal side effects. A big step forward in treating viruses.

My youngest has nightmares. One of the twins gets really hot and starts wheezing. The other twin gets really paranoid and I guess he sees things.

My 11 year old dughter had night terrors 3-4 years ago. The first night it started she was sick and running a fever. She ran downstairs totally out of it. Constantly screaming no and holding her didn't help at all. We called 911 thinking she had a major issue. Took her to Texas children's and ER Doctor thought it sounded like night terrors. Didn't happen again for a couple weeks then she proceeded to do it 60 nights in a row. Always happens 60-90 minutes after she fell asleep.

It freaked us out for a while but we got used to it. Made sure we never went to sleep before the time period was over. Some nights she was worse than others. She tried to go outside once. It was hard on us and very unnerving. She had them on and off for a couple years. Sometimes on vacation and we had to be cautious with sleepovers She hasn't had one in a year or two.
