It was a foregone conclusion that the Taliban were going to retake the country whenever the US left, whether it happened now or ten years from now. Better to have just ripped the bandaid off and moved on.

They’re not mocking the US, just trying to be like us. After all, the CIA did create the Taliban with weapons, funding and elite training in Operation Cyclone.
