People I've known who attended W&L describe it as a party school, with very active frat system. W&L students enjoyed harassing VMI cadets.

The problem is that we have given so much money to the school -- one of the highest endowments per alumni in the country -- that they literally don't need the money.
This is a school with 1800 undergraduates. And there is a gentleman in his 80s who has offered to leave the school $1b when he dies. Contingent upon the name remaining the same.
The school declined saying it basically has a "no strings" giving policy.

That's not correct. We basically ignore veemies. They never enter our mind. Except when they show up uninvited to our parties, puke on the floor, and start fights.
As for the relationship between W&L students, and VMI students, you are simply misinformed.

I stand corrected. A fraternity brother who attended W&L told me they would throw empty beer cans from the fraternity house front porch at the VMI cadets marching to chapel on Sunday morning. I guess that's where I got the idea there was interaction between the students.

1) Geography is wrong.
2) Why would fraternity guys be awake on a Sunday morning?
