Swedish may be the wisest people in the world
For the energy baws.
If mods think this is political (which it isn't), I understand a move to PT.
Seems reasonable.

Many of us have noted that Sweden had the most sensible response to the covid pandemic, which focused on protecting vulnerable populations and not relying on public gathering restrictions that ended up being useless and destructive.

The Scandinavian country may now be leading Europe and the rest of the West to a better approach to energy as well. The nation’s parliament has just given the green light to push forward with plans to build a new nuclear plant after voting 40 years ago to phase out atomic power.
quote:
“This creates the conditions for nuclear power,” Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson said in parliament. “We need more electricity production, we need clean electricity and we need a stable energy system.”

I would argue that fossil fuels aren’t the danger that is being presented by climate cultists and their media minions. However, nuclear power is exceedingly more efficient and reliable as an energy source than wind or solar.
Seems reasonable.

I work for a swedish electrical power company.
Theyve never stopped being pro nukes

It really does. No way it would happen here.

Well coincidentally the fossil fuel mafia killed nuclear energy in the U.S. with fearmongering. Rather poetic that the “green energy” loons are doing the same to them.
But we should build newer and safer nuclear plants. It’s the greenest most efficient energy source there is.

Theres no one size fits all bro
Needs to he nuke construction (which is a 10-15 year process) subsidized with aggressive cogen natural gas plants (18-24 month process)
Were already WAY behind itll take a long time to catch up
Oh by the way, need to update miles and miles and miles of grid cable, starting now

The turnabout on Diablo Canyon is noteworthy because California is the birthplace of America's anti-nuclear movement. The case against nuclear power stems primarily from fears about nuclear waste and potential accidents as well as its association with nuclear weapons.

It's a remarkable turnaround in a state where anti-nuclear activists and progressive Democratic lawmakers have fought with great success to rid the state of nuclear power.

"We were basically excluded from polite conversation for even talking about keeping the plant open," recalled Shellenberger. Promoting nuclear as an important tool in fighting climate change would get him dismissed by fellow environmentalists as a conspiracy theorist or, falsely, as a corporate shill, he added.

In 2017, across 16 states in America, mysterious local climate action groups called Citizens Against Nuclear Bailouts popped up. They heavily targeted a micro-identified group of Americans with direct leaflets, phone calls, and Facebook ads, calling on them to support the shutdown of nuclear power plants. But they weren’t actually groups of concerned citizens at all. The campaign was, in fact, created and led by the American Petroleum Institute, the lobbying champion for oil and natural-gas companies.

That’s ignorant. Three Mile Island and oppressive govt regulation killed nuclear energy. Poetic or not you’re soon to be paying out your arse for your energy wherever it comes from.

As long as affirmative action is used in nuclear power plant hiring policies, they cannot be made safe here.

Oil and gas lobby sure didn’t let the Three Mile Island crisis go to waste. It was blown way out of proportion. And who do you think lobbied the government for all those oppressive government regulations??
