I don't care if it was 15 or 1500 yds, he ended the killing. Those guys have taken enough of a beating the last few weeks, diminishing one of the few bright spots of that day is just depressing.

For the record I never criticized the guy. I just said it was an easy shot, which it was.

Peej, tap the brakes a bit, Hotshot. (no pun). You are starting to make Oweo look reasonable. These guys have NEVER ONCE said what the guy did was not heroic and necessary. They have just said with the proper training it is NOT something that is unbelievable. (I have paraphrased, obviously)

I have NO problem with this.. But YET there is NO reason to offer criticism in THIS situation... To say "Hey I could have done that no problem" is A Disgrace to what went on Sunday Morning....

PLEASE quote a post where either of them typed something, anything, that was a criticism of what the officer did.

It's the OT, people will always find something to argue about no matter how irrational.

That is NOT what goes on here and I vehemently disagree with the fact that you typed that.

The carcass should be taken to a pig farm and let the pig's feast.

Who has done that? Point them out and put them 100 yards away from me.

Perhaps criticize wasn't the correct word.

quote:You got it. We are (unfortunately) confusing criticism versus critique. Huge difference between the two. The officer was tremendously brave and I am thankful for men and women like him who hold the thin blue line every day. And I am also thankful that he ended the shooters life. Period.

That's absolutely impossible to know based purely on distance. Unless you were there, and know the exact circumstances, you can't know it was easy. There are multiple factors that go into a shot. Is the target moving? Are there any obstructions? What weapon is being used?
Any combat veteran would tell you that, right? Even you would admit that not knowing the above, and only knowing the distance, no one could declare it was an easy shot. Right?

Depends. Was it 100 yards?

I commend the guy and the shot he made. A lot of factors come into play that we may never know.
I don't think 23 was trying to downplay the shot or distance but merely pointing out the fact that some of us who have been in similar situations have made the same kind of shots.
Again, prayers to all involved in this senseless violence.

Well, then that's what he should say. I can understand saying just because it was a shot at a hundred yards doesn't necessarily mean it was a difficult shot.
But saying it was an easy shot is absolutely downplaying the shot. Which wouldn't be so bad if he was there, and knows all the details.
Honestly, how can any of y'all know y'all have made the same kind of shots? What are the details of the shot, other than it was made at 100 yards? If there are more details that I don't know, then forget all of the above. But how does anyone not there know if you've made a "same kind of shot"?
