SUV battery question

Wife had a low battery in NOLA on her midsize SUV, enough for lights but not enough to turn engine. Got a jump and got on interstate and drove home to BR.
Will 70-80 mph for about an hour and then 20 more min in BR traffic be enough to charge it back up? I told her to leave it idling in driveway...guess I could go turn it off and see and jump her off tomorrow morning and get a new battery if I had to

I have always heard about 45 minutes to charge back up when running, so I think you should be OK.

It will charge enough but you should find out if the battery is on its way out. Cold weather will make a weak battery show its arse.

My dad always said nothing kills a weak battery like the cold winter.
Should be ok to start but get her a new one asap.

If the battery is older than 3 years you need a new one. Or you can just keep jumping it off

You'll probably have to jump it off again to get it started.
The alternator is designed to "top-off" the battery, not bring the battery back from the dead.

It re-cranked. I'll still have to get a new battery I'm sure. It wasn't that dead, just weak enough for cranking amps. We'll see in the morning.

Clean the connections, few times per yr.
