Yep. Roman wins, goes part-time, same old same old.

This roster needed Kevin Owen’s back

quote:Yeah this is where I'd like to see Seth be the crafty technician to win, thanks TKO. I mean there were some good takeaways from this, RKO's return to snake Cody, KO's return, Haku is with his kids, Oba is cemented as the future "ruler" via Brock putting him over in MN, Gable's win, I'm thinking Survivor is going to be a big bloodline battle in war games and Roman will get his come uppings possibly then. On paper this event didn't look very good, but I guess by the day of the plans were there to make it Summerslam as it should be.
All just to have Reigns win again. shite is getting old.

quote:That's about it. I'm thinking he should be involved, but if he was, then what would have been of the rivalry of Roman vs. Seth to begin with.. That's messing with me. AEW just gave Moxley a payday because of six months worth of stuff he did on the indies taking stupid bumps. He's mostly making stupid TV for them now.
Dean is with them in spirit

TKO will pay out his contract and we will never see him on WWE TV again.

I have never really liked Roman. I mean, he's alright, but I do not understand why he has to be the face of the company and never lose clean. He's a one note Bond villain.
Tonight's match and buildup were literally every Shonen anime arc to ever exist. Friends turned rivals meet for one last match wherein the perpetual loser finally wins and they say how they feel about each other and show respect before the perpetual loser finally wins. Firm handshake. Stiff nod. Single tear.
Now, the formula to make this work and mean something is simple. Now an outside force shows up and threatens the two protagonist's world and they have to unite to protect it.
Now, who is the outside threat? Well, ideally it would have been Oba Femi, but they booked him as a fricking face. MONSTERS AREN'T FACES! Doesn't matter how over they are. They are MONSTERS. They don't talk. They destroy and brood.
So, Oba is out because they want to sell t-shirts.
So who is the outside threat that will make this match mean something going forward? What are the options?
1) Backstage Uprising: Hinted at a few times. But it just won't work. No one on the lower card really has the pull to be a legit threat outside LA Knight and he's a face. What? Gonna have Sami leading a picket line outside the TKO offices? Upper midcarders refusing to work and forfeiting matches? Management bringing in scabs... Wait...that could actually work...
2)Haku leads a Tongan War Party: Yeah, cool...8 years ago that could have worked, but today it basically amounts to another intrafamily feud. Real happy to see Haku as a manager, but he's a solid mid card feud at the moment.
3) Ambrose leads an Outsiders style invasion: Not likely. Would be cool though.
It always should have been Oba. Oba should have been a heel like every monster before him. He should have been used to unite the roster against him, but no...gotta sell t-shirts.
My mains gripes about the current WWE product is there are no legit big men at this time, but they keep trying to sell 6'3-4 as a GIANT (and even 5'9) and that there is no consistent company wide arc of a story. There is no throughline. Every wrestler exists in his own universe and what he or she does has no effect on anyone else besides their immediate feud.
The peak of wrestling was when EVERYTHING mattered to the overall story they were trying to tell. Now? It's a collection of YT shorts and TikToks.
I'll still watch. I do kinda love this stuff. But the current writing is myopic and focused on individual storylines and feuds. Need to just hire an entire Japanese manga studio, give them the pieces and tell them to have fun. Make something cool.

Pro Wrestling ended about 20 years ago.

Where do they go now? Seth wins and I can see a lot of angles. Roman wins, again, and I guess it's a build towards Oba v Roman. Kind of painted themselves into the corner with Oba. Making him invincible is not going to make him compelling. See, he HAS to beat Roman because if Roman wins again...gag.

What are so many people annoyed with Roman winning? He was always going to win this, this was 11 years in the making. Every performer at this point is part time so that’s not the issue
My problem is, when Oba beats Roman, who does he lose to when he is the champ?

Bronson comes back to The Vision, they turn on Bron and kick him out. After a short feud, Bron goes after Roman and becomes a top babyface. Having Seth go over Bron was a dumb move long term. I'm wondering if Corbin going over Trick will have the same affect.
