I'd get a Mercedes Sprinter van with a 144", not the long one, wheel base. Build one out on their site. Totally badass. You won't believe how nice you can make it. Not cheap.

How are blind spots in the sequoia? I had heard that they weren't good

8 adults? shite.....that's going to be big. I guess if you don't care about appearances you can get one of those giant conversion van things like an Express or Sprinter. You can get both with a diesel I think. My old company had Express cargo vans with the Duramax engine.....they were pretty bulletproof. The Sprinters were more efficient but were always broken.

Otherwise you are going to need a full sized SUV like a Suburban, Escalade, Yukon XL, Sequoia, or Armada. I'd go with the Suburban or Sequoia. Put the smallest people in the back and get a luggage rack it you need more space for crap.
The suburban can be had with the 3/4 ton chassis if you need that kind of payload capacity.....sounds like you might if you tore up the axle on your Mercedes GL that fast.

???
Never had a blind spot in any vehicle ever. You just need to adjust your side mirrors properly and most people don't know how.

Engine/transmission issues? Year and mileage?
IMHO, Suburban is the way to go, Expedition 2nd.

lets see, its on its second trans, second rear axle, third computer, second radio/control center, and has had about 18k in work done to the motor, plus other little stuff that adds up. its been a money pit that we are about to eat a lot of money just selling it, but will come out ahead if it continues on

I have driven a Yukon xl on long road trips. Awesome. The cargo room, even with the 3rd row in use, is the deal breaker

Which Sequoia model chicken? The 2006 was the best year. I don't care for the new model.

It was one of the more recent models. Last 5-6 years

Wow, a ton of miles in a short period, but that is just unacceptable performance.

They are fine, but honestly GM is the class of the field for large SUVs.
Get something with the 6.2 gas if you're gonna stack the miles on. Avoid anything hybrid.

Expedition/Lincoln Navigator
Nissan Armada/Infiniti QX
Toyota Sequoia
I'm surprised to hear that about the GL. What was so bad about it? Nevermind, just read it.
I think you may have just gotten a bad one. I don't remember all those things being recurring problems.

Whenever they did the most recent major body style change. 5-6 years ago?

Gen 2. I like gen 1 better and you can find plenty with low miles that look brand new

I would imagine the only time the OP is gonna go by an MB dealership it will be to throw rocks at it.

Unless it is a huge passenger van...eight adults arent fitting in anything with any sembkance of what I would consider comfort.
And Ive removed all carpet and sound deadening from my 20 year old vehicle.

Incorrect. See my post above about nv3500.
They're selling them all pimped out to soccer moms here with too much money.
