Stupid waste of time question: do you say Merry Christmas after Christmas has passed?
What? Christmas a humbug? Surely you don’t mean that Uncle?
Yes. It’s Merry Christmas through Epiphany. And then down come the lights, decorations, and tree. The celebration continues through Shrove Tuesday. Join in the feast, fun, and festivities with us.
Soon upon us-penitential Lent, Palm Sunday, Holy Week culminating in Good Friday’s Crucifixion and Jesus’s victorious Easter Resurrection.
Then the Great Celebration begins again. We need your participation. Join us.
In the meantime, starting Twelfth Night…
So until Epiphany…

I actually wondered this too.
So instead of saying it I just asked, did you have a good Christmas?

Given that there are a variety of observational dates of Christmas, usually until and including 12th Night, I do until the New Year happens; when the NY happens, saying Happy New Year for a couple of days covers most of the rest, and its not likely to upset someone if you mention a more recent calendar observation based event than the standard December 25th Christmas.

I see you are unfamiliar with twelfth night.

Between December 25th and January 1st I say "Happy New Year"

I say merry Christmas the first time i see an acquaintance until the decorations get put up (January 6th).

Dementia Joe’s account wished everyone a Happy Kwanza yesterday. We all know Dementia Joe was asleep by 7pm when the tweet came out.
