Why tf do I have to get a new brake tag in EBR when New Orleans is in Louisiana too?
Cuz they want to piss you off. That is the only reason.

I’ve been living in New Orleans most of my life and stopped getting brake tags about 15 years ago
You don’t need one
They never check

Lol, Kenna and Westwego have their own brake tags (or they used to)

Mississippi discontinued their system of vehicular inspections a couple of years ago. I had concerns about pieces of shite driving on the roads. However, I have seen no difference in the safety of vehicles that are on the road.

If you car is registered in EBRP, you have to get the car inspected at a shop within these parishes.
Reason is they have emissions inspections which the other parishes do not have.
Now brake tag in Orleans is only for vehicles registered in Orleans Parish. I guess they feel they need more inspections in Orleans versus a basic inspection.
Now
I own manage a Commercial Truck , Trailer, hydraulic, generator Shop.
We do DOT inspections.
Holding off on signing up to do State inspections and to go through the classes at BRCC.
1) HB 512 might do away with commercial state inspections due to they have to do federal DOT inspections anyway. Passed the house and going to the senate.
2) We lose money on commercial state inspections as your techs cost more than what the shop gets off the state inspections. Only ones making money are the state.

I haven’t gotten a brake tag in years. Never been stopped and questioned about it either.

What is a brake tag? Is that Louisiana’s name for inspection sticker? If not it sounds like another name for the state/parish to collect money for nothing.

All vehicles registered in the parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Livingston, and West Baton Rouge must be inspected in one of those same five (5) parishes.
Jesus Christ. My head is spinning from all the bureaucracy.

Inspections and brake tags are a scam. We don't have them here.

Less than 24 hours later he put a sticker on my vehicle. In that 24 hours the state police changed the program and had already conducted remedial training in two parishes.
Aren't you the poster that got another poster's stolen motorcycle recovered?
If so, it seems you're a guy that will get things done if you put your mind to it.

I just don’t like for people to get taken advantage of including myself. I’ll spend a ridiculous amount of time to make sure that doesn’t happen and I never ever quit. Most folks realize early on it’s much easier to give you what you want.
I’ve got many stories like this.

The chemical plants make us all pay a little extra for emissions tests even though there aren't enough people in this area to really cause the air quality issues the epa blames on us.

He’s telling the truth. The station on Hwy 19 is about 300 yards from the EBR parish line. For a long time they didn’t have any inspection stations in Zachary and they made the inspection station do only emission inspections as a service to the folks in Zachary.
After they jacked me around they do both now, emissions and non emission inspections.
