Take out the extremes of what has become American politics and just look at what a democrat and republican is supposed to be and I can’t understand how anyone would be a republican
Are there serious problems with the democrats? Of course. Serious. It’s terrible. But so is the other side. We are only at extremes now.
But if you just look at what each party stands for at its core without the people you see a party that wants to help others and a party that wants to help itself.
You think the founding fathers were conservatives or progressives? Lincoln (yeah, yeah a republican) was more of a progressive than any other president.
It’s not about party. It’s aboit ideals.
I want to do what is best for humanity. If that makes me a republican. Ok. If that makes me a dem. Ok.
Point is republicans have for the decades past wanted to preserve things as they are and help themselves. Dems suck as well and are equally greedy.
I look past politicians and focus on ideals.

The main difference between conservative and liberal stances almost always boils down to one question.
Is suffering always bad?
To liberals, yes suffering is always bad and we always have to work to reduce it.
To conservatives, sometimes suffering is good because it teaches you something.
To liberals that guy who's too lazy to work for his own food is suffering. Society needs to minimize his suffering as much as possible. Lets buy his food for him.
To conservatives that guy who's too lazy to work for his own food is also suffering, but they'd rather let him suffer because an empty stomach after a few nights should help incentivize him to start working so he can feed himself.
