You know, it is a huge pain in the arse. Recent anecdote was Friday simply trying to go out of a convenient store door. A young lady in her 20's was reading her phone coming to the door, totally oblivious to anyone else on the planet. It could have been a door to the face teaching moment but I refrained. Instead we did the door dance until we both let out sighs.

I get not wanting to go to class, but this is a little extreme. Save this stunt for an exam day.

I am sure one of the round-abouts is to blame...
If this happened in the middle of campus, then the person who ran into the pedestrian almost has to be an employee of the university. They have the core of campus on lockdown to outside traffic.

that's the way pedestrians in TX are, yes, it's the law that they have the right of way but the vehicle will always win
That's always been my thought process.
Doesn't matter if you were "in the right" if you're dead.
Personally, I defer to the 3,000 pound hunk of hurling metal rather than make a point about my legal rights as a pedestrian.
Walking headlong into a busy street without paying attention and simply expecting cars to stop is like submerging yourself in a pool and refusing to come up for air because "the lifeguard is supposed to rescue you."

Classic case of a person who forgot that cars were larger than people. It's the risk you run when you sashay out into the road without looking.

Over. Easily.
Team People gonna keep taking L's like this until they remember how large and how fast cars are.

had no idea that this issue had gotten to the point to where where have to have public service announcements about how people shouldn't stare at their phones while walking down the street.
It isn't even just young people either. I've dodged several older folks in stores who were texting and walking. Most of the world these days think that the rest of the world rotates around them and everyone else is there just to be in their way.

basic rules of common sense like look both ways before stepping out into traffic are such old fashioned notions

The worst is people blowing through a crosswalk without stopping on campus. Many vehicles caught a good punch to the door or a Gatorade bottle

SO and I were riding our bikes through campus over the summer and we watched someone walk out of one of those buildings in the row on the east side of Tiger Stadium, cross the street and head in the direction of the Quad before ever looking up from their phone.

It’s a miracle more of those dipshits aren’t hit.
