I'm looking at a new neighborhood in Youngsville and some of the houses have Stucco. Is it true that the humidity tears it up?

Have it checked by someone that knows what they are looking at.

Nearly all of the new houses in the BR area have stucco.

I think the stucco looks better.

Anyone have any good tips on finding studs behind stucco walls? I do not have access from the interior so I have to somehow find them going through the stucco. Besides just drilling holes and hoping...any suggestions?

stucco looks like shite....I don't know how it lasts
eta: I don't think there's a house in youngsville without it

It lasts OK, I guess.
It stays ugly, though.

I don't like stucco as a rule. That said, we just bought a european style partial stucco house in GA.
This is what I hate:

Those people didn't know when to say "stop".

This is painted brick if you want to break it up some

That looks good, but now you've taken a maintenance-free material and turned into something that will need paint.
Aesthetically, I see why they did it. We used Hardie-Plank for the same reason.

I see some in my neighborhood both good and bad. The bad really show after a rain. You see cracks and fading. Those that are maintained(painted) look great, even after 10-15 years.

I would say the vast majority of "stucco" houses you see are not real stucco, combine that with the fact that they hired some contractor that had no idea what he was doing and you have a shitty finished product.
