Sounds like the cat may be a house cat that got loose. A ferrel cat generally isn’t going to be that friendly with people. I’d take it to a vet and see if it has a microchip. The owner could be looking for it.

Funny, I'm in Katy too. I lost a cat here almost 2 years ago. It devastated me. Always hoping for the phone call (he was chipped.) I can recommend Emancipet for the lowest cost spay, it's at the Petsmart near Jersey Village off 290. They were the fastest appt too. I took in a stray snowshoe kitten that showed up in my yard last summer and didn't get her fixed in time, so I just went through getting her and her 4 kittens altered. Don't procrastinate on the spay, that's my best advice. They don't show much for the first month and their gestation is only 65 days.

If a stray cat has a collar, I catch and release it. If it doesn't have a collar it just wasted his/her 9th life.

We have two stray cats that showed up to our house about two years ago. One is cool as shite and the other is an absolute dick and stays to himself. We feed them every day and they’ll disappear for a week the suddenly reappear like nothing ever happened. This year is the first year I’ve ever not seen a single snake in my yard, too, so they’re earning their keep.
Cats get a bad reputation here but in my opinion, they can be underrated.

Why are cats scared of cucumbers?

Don't die in your garage, it will start eating your face off before your cold.

You have a garage cat. Treat her nicely and you will not have mice. I took in a tiny kitten who was dumped on the highway in front of my house. Raised him on formula. He is now two and a half. He has killed over a hundred mice that I know of. Name is Baw.

We worried she was ferrel for about 2 days. Then I was putting finish on a wood working project and she meowed at me. From behind an ice chest and ready to run. Wife pet her and now she’s a normal cat. A bit aggressive with insisting on head scratches. Even a-hole-ish slightly. lol. Headbutts your hand before you pet her.

The academic answer is she's claiming ownership by leaving her scent on you.
The real answer is she wants something (food attention, let her outside).

Lots of good advice in this thread and a few smart azz replies.
Bottom line: Cats are awesome.
They are fierce, independent and each has a unique personality.
I love dogs as well, but cats are just more fun.
Anyone who doesn't like cats is garbage.

Garage is always open between me and my son. She has free run and the spot she got in in the first place.

Indeed. I’ve had cats for 30 years it’s good to see them finally getting some love on the page.

I used to be one of those.
They really don't know what they're missing. Being adopted by a stray is awesome.

Had a friend whose wife insisted on a cat, but then didn’t take care of it. One day it got out. Kids went off the deep end about losing the cat, so he did the whole flyer game with a reward.
Several weeks later, like 6 or 7, his wife calls. “The cat has been found, I went and got it and paid the reward.”
He got home that night and wife said the cat was acting strange from being in the wild so long, so it was still in the crate on the back porch.
He looked in the crate, said that’s not our cat, and when he opened the door it attacked him and ran and jumped the back fence.
