A good friend, stood in my wedding, age 24 at the time of his freakish death. We were playing golf, he not a golfer per se, just out to drink & whack away at it. Flubbed a chip shot & he took his club and hit it against the side of the cart. The shaft broke off & one end of it punctured his throat. We all froze, not knowing what to do, he just stood there, no blood. When he finally pulled it out, he started bleeding, went into a coma 3 hrs later, died 3 days later of excessive blood loss. Left behind a pregnant wife, age 22. He actually died the day my first son was born. Every yr when we celebrate my son's b.day, I think of him & what a waste his loss was. One of the biggest wakes/funerals in Chalmette history, he & his wife both from large Italian families.

Happened at City Park in the 80s, right? I thought about that incident when this thread started. Wasn't he a TKE at UNO?

He was a TKE at Nicholls in Thibodaux. Happened in April of 1982. Had been working at NY Life for less than 2 yrs & had already been promoted to a regional sales mgr position. One of the really good guys.
