I bet college students end up giving money a majority of the time.

I work in downtown Shreveport near the bus station, so on a good week I get hit up about 8 times. I just stoned faced give a stern "no" and don't offer any explanation.

The regulars now remember me and don't even bother, but I still get hit up quite often.

My usual response is "Sorry, I got nothing but credit cards". That does the trick. Now if I ever get one that has a way of swiping cards for a handout, the old bullshite detector is going to go off the charts.

How do you know they think that?

Had one approach me at a gas station asking for money and he had a brand new pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket. He started going through his sob story, so I told him I'd give him $5 for his pack of smokes. He said nevermind & walked away.

Very. I mean what do they expect? "Yes, here is my iPhone. Hold on to it. I trust you to stand there and give it back to me when you're done!"

I hate it. Especially when it's in the evening and I'm by myself and I get approached. My Mom had her purse stolen by someone who approached her to use her phone after she was putting up groceries in her car in the parking lot so it's made me paranoid as hell.

Had a bum here in Austin ask for a sip of the water bottle that I had just bought from the gas station. fricking gross. Then he says "atleast I didn't ask for money right?" As if i'd be like "oh okay, you're right, here you go."
