I-10 East bound at Biloxi is already a parking lot. If you are heading East, don’t delay.

It never fails… why people never go north is mind boggling.

Question, girlfriend is contemplating whether she should come home to Lafayette or stay in Baton Rouge. What do y’all think?

Lafayette unless she wants to stay up all night and watch some fireworks.

I really wish goes-16 was launched/operational for Katrina. It’s the difference between VHS and super HD for satellite imagery

That NASA satellite image site weather.msfc.nasa.gov is one of the most underrated sites. The updates are every 5 minutes and the quality is excellent.

Please define big shifts. Is 30 miles a big shift?

Gustav gave BR some of its strongest winds ever recorded.

Not saying it didn't, but a significant storm event "for Baton Rouge", is a lot different than a significant storm event for many other areas.

This is one of my biggest gripes with some of these local weather guys. They would have you think that this storm will have as big of an impact on Baton Rouge that Laura did for Lake Charles. It's all relative. It's not physically possible for Baton Rouge to experience the same type of event purely due to its geographical location but the local guys won't explain that.

Look no further than how many people are leaving BR right now. A few of them are leaving because they have family or they just don't want to deal with lost power, but I guarantee you that most of them are terrified out of their mind because they see Cat 4 and automatically assume their BR home will be exposed to 120mph winds.
