Well, at least 80% of Lake Charles has new roofs already so there won't be as much roof damage this time around. A lot of roofs were already 15 years old from Rita. Also, a lot of the problem trees are gone now too.

Not saying there won't be damaged because obviously there would be, but it won't be horrible unless this thing reaches Laura type strength.

That's why I said 80%. Still a lot of patches and blue tarps around.

If this storm comes here, I might go throw bricks through my windows as soon as it passes. I bought this house damaged from someone to fix up, live in for a bit, then flip after we build or move somewhere else. The windows need replacing but I don't want to pay for them as I am looking at around $25K installed.

Agree. Had there not been so many tarped roofs, Delta would not have done much damage even with 100 mph winds. I was out of power for less than 24 hours. The electrical grid was almost brand new after Laura.

And the flooding with Delta was worse. Many areas that didn't flood for Laura did for Delta. Some of that was because it moved slower and dumped more rain and some of it was because ditches were full of debris.

They have been cleaning drainage all over the city so hopefully between that, and the other factors we all mentioned, this won't be bad if it hits us.

Having peace of mind that we won’t lose power was worth every penny. I ordered it on November 11th and it took until July 28th before it was installed. $8675 for the 24KW out the door with a concrete generator pad.

Auto transfer switch was done during my build so that cost is not in there.

If a storm organizes in the Caribbean and shoots the Yucatán gap I’m afraid there would be Cat 5 potential
