It's an incredibly idiotic point to try and argue.
Except you tried to make a technical point that was wrong. If he never stepped foot on the airport grounds, you would have a point.

What is the update, is he still flying

Press conference said he didn't know how to land a plane. They had him talked into landing at the Tupelo airport with a trained pilot talking him thru how to land. He aborted the airport landing. Headed north west and updated his facebook in flight with his goodbye message.
Early in the WTVA coverage they said that the Toyata plant on I-22 NW of Tupelo had been evacuated.
Looking back at the flight path, the plane made some tight circles near Toyata. Seems like he might have had a brief moment where he thought about hurting people again.

He was already flying over neighborhoods. My next door neighbor said he flew over our house 4 or 5 times. We live about 1 mile southeast of the airport. The approach to the runway is nothing but fields at the Buffalo Park and the end of the runway is a field all the way to main street. The guy knew how to fly but had no experience with the landing part.
Yeah my Mom lives closer to Joyner and called me about 7AM eastern telling me about it. She has a lot of professional contacts with that airport and knows the guy very well. I'm not gonna be able to talk to her until later this evening but she said "there's more to it when we talk".
I'm interested to see what she says about him.
ETA: I'll post up if there's anything of interest.

because it's a small airport not needing a 24/7 tower.
The tower is manned from 6am-10pm. He took off before 6am. Last time I flew out of Tupelo Airport. The airport's John Deere mower was also used to pull the luggage cart to load and unload the planes

I more or less grew up in that airport. I vividly remember the old terminal with the weird as hell mirror things on the ceiling.
There's a small pond(might be dried up now) between the parking lot and the new NG area that had some huge fish in it. No one else could get on grounds so they just never were fished out.
I got a couple 6-7 pound bass out of it. This had to have been mid-90's.

This was clearly an attempt at "DEATH BY SIDEWINDER!"

Obituary of pilot’s dad? School Resource Officer killed while directing school traffic beginning of this year.
I also read(was a random FB comment) that he may have lost his brother recently.
If he lost his brother and dad in the same year, that's pretty tough. Would also explain why he specified his sister in that FB post.

In the article it says he had 2 sons it never said anything about a daughter which the guy that stole the plane pointed out in his FB post about his sister. Could of been a misprint on the article but just makes you curious

Could have been a very close female friend that was "like a sister" to him.

Cory Patterson may be a popular enough name, but it’s not THAT popular and the Tupelo metro isn’t that big. The dad in the obituary was 61. So factor in that his sons would be within the 25-40 year old age range that today’s suspect falls in and that the Tupelo metro area, which Shannon lies within, only as a population of maybe 120,000 tops and it seems unlikely that there are more than 3 “Cory Patterson”s who are 30ish years old in the region.
More than likely it was a misprint that left out the sister or the sister is a step/half sibling that didn’t belong to his dad.

Yes, about 10 more minutes of fuel.

One of my mom's friends ran an unofficial daycare in the early 90's with the woman's grandkids, myself, and a couple others.
One of those grandkids refers to me as her "older brother" to this day.
