The stimulus package would provide one-time direct payments to Americans of $1,200 per adult making up to $75,000 a year, and $2,400 to married couples making up to $150,000, with $500 payments per child. After a $75,000 threshold for individuals, the benefit would be reduced by $5 for each $100 the taxpayer makes. A similar $150,000 threshold applies to couples, and a $112,500 threshold for heads of households.

Page 781 of the bill provides $25 million to the 435 members of the House of Representatives to cover "salary and expenses."

Also buried in the bill, $25 million would be allocated for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

So a family of 4 will get $3,400, while their Representative gets $57,471.

And a billion dollars for Amtrak who is already heavily subsidized

How could we ever return to normalcy in modern life if we couldn't commute by train?

Yup, which is why I was fine with the Democrats holding it up. Oh but they were America-hating assholes though. Happy now, you sheep? (Not you, OP. Those who are guilty of this are well aware of it.)

You arent allowed to say it was both sides on tigerdroppings. The Republicans are trying to save this country from the evil Dems. They earned that bonus for their hard work in doing so

Both sides showed their face in this one. Both of them were trying to slip unrelated crap in instead of just passing something to aid the people.

People need to wake up to what Washington is--a bunch of self-serving crooks that don't care about us until they have to fake it.

It is up to the voters to create “term limits”. Vote them out on a regular basis. Too many career politicians. It does not take along for an individual to become “entrenched” in the ways of Washington.

Next election, it does not matter the position, when a candidate states that he/she, “...has been in public service for their entire career”......you need to vote for someone else.

Yep. The problem is the states with the congressmen with real power wanna keep them in power because of all the pull they have. Removing the rest of them wont do anything as long as you still have a pelosi or a McConnell there keeping the newly elected in check

Pfft!

I don’t qualify for the $1200
Lost 68% of revenue
Of the revenue lost,16% completely canceled contracts.
Can’t collect unemployment

The Republican solution?
Take out a loan so I can keep my employees off unemployment. They will forgive the loan if I retain the same employment level after the designated time period. If I don’t, I assume the loan.

What dumbass Would retain the same employee levels knowing he just lost 16% of his business?

They don’t want to show the massive actual unemployment numbers so they are trying to disguise it through loans?

Is it right? Hell no, but it’s the way it is and the way it’s always been. Just take your 1200 and enjoy life man. It’s too short too get worked up over all this.

Particularly if they're beefing up unemployment benefits. A lot of people will be better off not working for you anyway.

Almost every bill is filled with fluff. It is professional bribery and extortion.

You want my vote to pass your bill, I need something for that vote.

I need your vote to pass my bill and I am willing to pay you for it.
