You just got done berating people and calling them assholes in the Trayvon Martin thread, and you're kind of being a huge a-hole in this thread.

Once again, you don't need to be a lawyer to have a grasp of the law.
If you are going to enforce the law you must understand what you are enforcing.

This takes more than a H.S. education.

Very few P.D.s & S.O.s have the resources to train their people up to a level equaling enough knowledge to do so very well.

Bravo to the authorities who made the call to release the decision into this weather. You men may have saved lives today.

One of the mindless sheep that follows Gravy just said she thinks the cops planted a gun on Alton and he was struggling to not let it happen. I can't make this kind of stupidity up.

Absolutely.

I don't agree. These aren't difficult concepts. Cops don't get in trouble for the incorrect application of the law. They get in trouble for making poor judgment calls. I think practical training would do more good than formal legal training.

Ideally every cop would have at minimum a criminal justice degree, but this simply isn't practical, especially in rural communities.

Do you wear body armor to work just to give yourself the extra feeling you're going to go home to your family every day? Do you rush toward an active shooter to protect the citizens?

That's why you aren't respected. Because you can't give credit where's its due.

Questionable. My 25+ years of working side by side with them says both needed nearly equally. This is mostly because the largest part of their job is not having to wrestle with a 310 pig every day.

Something I said years ago. This would be my main point hence my belief that much more tax $s would be needed to do this.

We can't enforce with the force we want. We gotta enforce with the force we have.... and live with it.

I went to school and got an education so I dont have to do those things and my family doesn't have to worry about whether or not I'm coming home. No one forces them to become LE. It's needed and I'm thankful some people volunteer to do it, but I also think they volunteer because they don't have very many other options.

I would say more uneducated citizens go into the military straight out of high school than LEO....and I realize that many LEOs are former military members before joining. I this particular case with AS, I know for a fact at least one of the officers graduated from Southeastern.

Never asked but I know he graduated because he finished college before I did. If his fb was still up, I would go look it up.

ETA: He graduated in 2010 LINK

Unfrickingbelievable

Yeah, I'm sure the cops wanted to pack up their families and restart their entire lives just to kill Alton Sterling.

I salute him for having an education, and presumably options, and still choosing to be a cop.
