Still trying to wrap my head around this case. They literally want criminal charges because Alton was black. If he was white this wouldn't even be a story.

Disturbing

100%. And nobody would even know about it outside of Baton Rouge.

I have enjoyed reading on FB peoples outrage more of the "leak" then the actual decision and facts presented by the DOJ. It's classic distraction when it doesn't go your way. They had to blame someone for this outcome since the facts don't help so blame Trump and Sessions.

Every police officer in Baton Rouge should hand in their resignation effective immediately. Why work for a mayor who hates them and fights them at every turn.

There were nearly 82,000 Republicans registered at the time of the runoff election

EBR Parish voter demographics.

REGISTERED VOTERS-DEMOCRATS-REPUBLICANS-OTHERPARTIES
TOTAL WHITE BLACK OTHER-TOTAL WHITE BLACK OTHER-TOTAL WHITE BLACK OTHER-TOTAL WHITE BLACK OTHER
285,519 147,265 124,069 14,185-136,948 34,620 98,072 4,256-80,282 74,596 2,725 2,961-68,289 38,049 23,272 6,968

The SOS' latest report has 285,519 registered voters in EBR. 136K+ are Democrats, 80K+ mare Republicans, and 68K plus are (other).

There are 23K more registered white voters than black voters. There are more white voters registered than black and others combined.

There are 98K+ black Democrat voters and 80K+ White Republican voters. leaving over 100K other voters for the two sides to fight over.

I'd like to say that from what I've seen Democrat candidates parish wide run better than Republicans because they are better candidates, and Republicans need to quit making excuses and go fight for the votes and do a better job of getting them. There are plenty to be had.

I don't blame people for this. It sucks. But you're right, it's not Trump or Sessions who facilitated that. It was people looking for political capital. People in DC throw a major paper a bone and then they can ask favors later. That would have happened under any admin.

That actually is an issue and should be looked into. You do an almost year-long investigation only to have someone in the office leak the results two days prior to the announcement all while leaving locals in the dark.

First thank you Baton Rouge for going all in to give Mitch Landrieu competition for the worst pandering politician in Louisiana ??

Second dark days are ahead for Baton Rouge because SWB is going to drive business out of BR on a scale the likes of which have t been seen before.

They got what they wanted,

"They" should never dictate the law, but "they" did.

But in the end, "they" didn't get what they wanted. What "they" wanted was a kangaroo court and a hanging judge.

Instead they got the DOJ doing their job with the La. people sitting around waiting to do their jobs and its a mess.

I am not saying it was right and I do agree that it should of been handled better but some people are using it as a distraction to continue to be outraged about a case where officers attempted to control the situation and as a last ditch effort used deadly force. The people that are outraged don't like the outcome and the explanation so they blame the current administration for the reason the results came out the way they did instead of looking at the timeline and results put out by the DOJ.

As she chokes the police department and they get fewer and fewer candidates, it will start to see the shortage that NOLA sees... It's a tipping point and as areas become more dangerous, nothing will be able to turn it around.

Elections have consequences and electing a racist, divisive mayor is going to make what a Baton Rouge that already had its share of problems much worse. Much faster.

The more she turns BR into NOLA/Chicago I will only return to BR for football games. For those that were all on periscope last night, a woman said she would actually vote Gravy for mayor over Kip. Something like that happens, I'll watch football games from my couch.

She already said she's going to force them to take "implicit bias training", aka "don't arrest black people training"

She's going to treat the BRPD like a little social experiment like Obama did with the military. Of course, with people like Silky Slim on your board of advisers, it's not completely unexpected.

It is very common for lawyers to take a case, initially unpaid, if they foresee a huge payday in the future where they will get a huge cut.

Do you even class action lawsuit, bro?

How much of a payday would you think TD would owe for posters using an individual's initials/nicknames and discussing PUBLIC posts? For reposting PUBLIC photos?
Once you put something on Facebook and make it public, then you can't cry foul when people repost it or discuss it.

For example, if I make a huge post saying I can't pay my therapy bills and I have a lot of anxiety issues and I fear every single woman I encounter because of the abuse I've endured, I can't sue someone who references my post and expect to hit the jackpot.

Being insensitive to someone's situation isn't illegal. You can't sue everyone who doesn't like you. Look at that girl who pretended to be black, Rachel whoever. Tons of memes were made, people posted all kinds of stuff..is she winning lawsuits? No. She's on food stamps. You put your shite out there for the world to see, then you can't cry about it.

If a lawyer is wasting time on a case like that,
then he isn't worth his salt.

The problem won't fix itself because the voter base is going to change drastically as the people/money leave.

This is one of the main reasons city hall doesn't want an ISD in the SE part of the parish.

People have been leaving the parish for several decades now. If they had remained in EBR instead of going elsewhere then think of how the voting dynamics would have changed.

An ISD and young families staying in EBR isn't what these people desire. They want control and slowly but surely they are getting it.

It'll be just like Jackson. Blame whites for everything despite the fact that blacks are in charge
