When Katrina hit I was in Texas. I was with some people who told me Texas was giving everyone $300 in groceries on a "lone star" card. I got it. Didn't use it forever. Went to Sav-a- center And got a beef tenderloin and live lobsters. The cashier said "you're not supposed to buy this kind of stuff with these cards".

Idc had surf and turf.

Meh. I guess if you get off by directing your frustration in that way, then be my guest. Seems counterintuitive and fruitless, but you do you.

But if you are going to have a system and recipients get a fixed amount based on their qualifications, why do you care what they spend it on?

They really should have restrictions on that shite. The woman behind me was buying oysters, lobster and steak with that shite.

I'll never forget picking up an item at Hi Nabor on Jones Creek and the lady in front of me must have gotten $80 worth of meats on the LA Purchase card. She then goes out to get into a car parked in a handicap spot that is only a few years old lol

Because the system doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Food stamp recipients spend taxpayer money on shitty food which makes them fat and extremely unhealthy which causes taxpayers more money in the long run. Furthermore, the ability to buy luxury items on food stamps makes existence on them very comfortable and reduces motivation to earn ones keep.

What difference does it make? You're taking a $300 handout from the taxpayer regardless. Better to spend it on something healthy than a bunch of potato chips and Kool aid.

Imo if you're on food stamps you shouldn't be able to buy processed bullshite. I don't want you making health insurance go up too
