I get people who have issues with things like food stamps or whatever it is called now. Particularly with how qualifications are determined and the kind of control they have on whether people are scamming the system.
But if you are going to have a system and recipients get a fixed amount based on their qualifications, why do you care what they spend it on? It's the flip side of people saying you shouldn't own that much property or why do you need a gas-guzzling truck or a sports car. Just so long as you don't subsidize them further if they fall short at the end of the month.

I don’t mind helping people out when they are in a rough patch but the items they are allowed to buy with those EBT cards are outrageous. I always see cookies, ice cream, cokes, chips, etc. (never the store brand btw). The tax payers are definitely getting hit twice when they have to pick up the tab for their medical bills as well. They should only be able to buy vegetables and reasonably priced lean proteins.
