They can definitely upgrade the charges. And they should, Kevin Daigle deserves the death penalty

The state of Louisiana has been hit extremely hard this year by LEO deaths.

Of course. That's exactly how it works when the victim passes away.

I would guess that process is already in work.

I cannot understand how and why people do this kind of shite.

They should set his trial by next week and sentence him to the electric chair within 24 hours of his guilt. He doesnt deserve to breathe the air we breathe.

quote:Don't know the LA Code, but in most other states, the act itself - according to the details provided - would not be first degree murder if it had not involved a LEO. But, IIRC, generally speaking, attacks on public officials/officers typically kick the offense up a notch, which makes this a first degree murder even if he didn't begin the encounter with the intent to kill.

frick anyone that would harm a police officer. When you screw with police like that it makes it tougher for everyone involved with police.
Prayers to the trooper' family.

After the shooting, he said, Daigle wandered into the road and over to Vincent, asking if he was alive.
“You could hear him breathing, telling him, ‘You’re lucky. You’re lucky — you’re going to die soon.’ That’s the words that came out of his mouth,” Edmonson said.
Rest easy Trooper Vincent

It's an iffy situation, as 1st degree implies premeditation. However, this will be upgraded to capital murder, since the deceased was uniformed law enforcement. They don't need premeditation to upgrade to that, I don't think.
Prayers to the family of the fallen. Rest easy, Trooper Vincent. Today marks your End of Watch.
Thank you for your diligent service to the citizens of Louisiana.

You're unfamiliar with Louisiana law; respectfuly: shut up.
