Wrong. Many times, their license plate is seized and they are allowed to drive off. I’ve watched it happen on more than one occasion.

State Farm does ok by us for now. Think we are at $289 for two vehicles in Louisiana. 500/500/500. $100 deduct, comprehensive.
Vehicles are a 2020 and 2018.
God help us if we somehow make a claim though.

Just so you know, when they are caught they are impounded and forced to prove that they have insurance before they can get it out of impound.
LOL
That is rarely ever happening in this state

Rates are going up on all lines throughout the insurance industry.

I wondered why you beat the independent drum so hard
I worked for State Farm then Allstate before going independent on the life side. That taught me two things:
1. State Farm is a vastly better company than Allstate in both coverage options and customer centric policies/procedures.
2. The value of using an independent agent can’t be over stated.

You’re overstating the value of an independent agent

Were you an actual agent or a team member?

I had been brainwashed into believing State Farm was the best thing since sliced bread until I worked for Allstate. I then saw with my own two eyes that some companies are truly better than others with price but at the same time, customer service is not something to discount when shopping for an insurance company. Allstate sucks arse at customer service. If you want the best of both worlds, use an independent agent who can find the best rates among legitimate companies. That’s just my opinion. In fact, the Allstate agent I worked for is now an independent agent and as soon as I get fricked by USAA, he’s getting my business for homeowners because I know he’ll find the best rate with a legitimate company. I’m done with State Farm and Allstate.
I was a team member in both positions. After that experience I had had enough and went out on my own as an independent life agent. It’s hard as hell sometimes but when it’s good, it’s fantastic so I have no regrets.

Ahh I see. You’re basing your opinion somewhat off of the agent you worked for. Being the Agent owner is a different ballgame.
I have friends that are goosehead agents and some that didn’t get their contracts with State Farm that are Great Florida agents, so to each their own.

Somewhat, on the State Farm side of my career. He is one of State Farm’s best agents and has been for a couple decades so he is all about State Farm and although they are a great company, I was just led to believe that nobody could beat them and that’s simply not true at all.

. State Farm is a vastly better company than Allstate in both coverage options and customer centric policies/procedures.
Just an example:
They used to write auto estimates on Mitchell. A few years back, they switched to Audatex. They approached Audatex (who was on their way to bankruptcy) and had them rewrite their estimating software per SF’s guidelines.
No one that owns a shop, whether it’s a dealership or independent, writes on Audatex. No other insurance company writes on Audatex. No other independent adjuster writes on Audatex.
State Farm’s excuse for not paying the bill is usually something along the lines of “we can’t pay because of ‘time differences’ in estimating software.” According to Revisory letter from Donelon’s office, dated 2007, any insurer must pay using one of the big three estimating suites (MOTOR, Mitchell, Audatex). State Farm is “following” the law, but they basically bought and paid for the software themselves.
Before 2021 is over, State Farm is moving to MOTOR. A lot of shops (major majority) and insurance companies use this (us included).
When Allstate moved to MOTOR (somewhere) around 2012, they did the same thing. They bought and paid for a revamp of the database for their agents/adjusters). It was so distant from the regular end user’s database that we couldn’t even communicate or pull down estimates (supposedly) written on the same database for years.
I’m waiting to see what MOTOR does or has promised SF for their business.
TL;DR frick State Farm!

The Mob charges for protection too but lawmakers aren’t writing laws requiring that you pay for that type of service.
Look up what Bobby Kennedy was working on when he was “retired”. (To help your google search “1963 Consent Decree”)
While our last AG was a crook on his own merits, he was gearing up for a big suit against State Farm for the people of Louisiana. He had just finished up the suit against BP (one of the largest in US history). Unfortunately for the state of Lousiana, he lost his re-election.
