I'm from Oregon and regularly misspell definitely even though I know how it's spelled. When I saw the threat topic, that's the first word that popped to mind. No idea why.

This data can't be that good. Most of these words wouldn't be used enough to be the state's "top" misspelled words, both grey/gray are correct, and no good way to tell the difference between a typo and not knowing how to spell a word.

I've always heard gray = American spelling, grey = British spelling. Easy way to remember is A-American, E-England.

I was fully expecting Louisiana to be the misuse of
"Our" "or" and "are"

See "for sale are trade" in craigslist and other classifieds.

I struggled for a long time with those.

Most of the time effect is a thing (ie a noun). The effect of 3 days of steady rain is a lot of flooding. Affect is a verb. The flooding will affect a lot of people. Where it gets confusing is when effect is used as a verb. I had to effect repairs to my house due to the flooding.
